One of my favourite times of the year - the Burns supper! In celebration of Scotland's great poet Robert Burns!

I'll be having some haggis neeps an' tatties followed by a few wee drams of whisky!

Have a good one fellow ATSers!

"Man's inhumanity to man makes countless thousands mourn!" - Robert Burns

If you have any Burns poems or qoutes, please share!

i live right in the heart of burns town and frequent his old pubs.
yes he was a talented poet and truly a famous scot for his work....but remember its no fairy tale, its a story of lies, deceit ,adultery with many illegitimate kids , drink , sti's ....... a big list .

some people achieve greatness after death here's my fitting tribute to rabbie burns

Here awa, there awa, wandering Willie,
Here awa, there awa, haud awa hame;
Come to my bosom, my ain only dearie,
Tell me thou bring'st me my Willie the same.

Winter winds blew loud and cauld at our parting,
Fears for my Willie brought tears in my e'e,
Welcome nowhSimmer, and welcome, my Willie,
The Simmer to Nature, my Willie to me!

Rest, ye wild storms, in the cave of your slumbers,
How your dread howling a lover alarms!
Wauken, ye breezes, row gently, ye billows,
And waft my dear laddie ance mair to my arms.

But oh, if he's faithless, and minds na his Nannie,
Flow still between us, thou wide roaring main!
May I never see it, may I never trow it,
But, dying, believe that my Willie's my ain!

Here's how it is celebrated in Vancouver. I have it on my bucket list to taste the haggis before I die, as I quite like oatmeal.

Up your kilt from across the pond! Enjoy your day!
Don't know too much about your culture except for Dewar's Ne Plus Ultra when I had a penny or two AND the fact that someone who must have had a wee drop too many (or was to damn cheap to buy a decent one, let's face it) chose a bloody weed for your national emblem. Then again, who am I to point this out when ours in Canada is nothing but a leaf and our national animal is a rodent. (beaver)
