"There is no right to privacy in this system" - IRS.gov warning notification I received, page

So I was going to check my Federal Tax Return for the first time this year as I am on the ball and have already filed my taxes ( buffs nails on shoulder ).

I have used the IRS Where's My Refund tool many times in years past and have never received this pop-up...



Note the section that blatantly states:

There is no right to privacy in this system

More or less, we own you while you're using this tool. I realize they are only protecting my interests and my identity from those that would access this section of the website with malicious intent, but I find their blatant terminology very ominous for some reason.

Interesting times we live in.

Not a big deal, it's their way of saying you're on their internet property and they monitor everything done on that site. Especially with Anon threats as of late, I get it. Hell, they are Big Brother so they'd be slacking if they didn't let you know they are watching you as you surf their site. Same could be said anytime you talk to any type of customer service rep on the phone, you always get the warning message that the phone call will be recorded. You could record anyone who calls you and leave your own warning message on your voicemail! Yay!

I think I find it so ominous due to perhaps a possible foreshadow of things to come. I would imagine, that if TPTB could have their way with the internet, the sites that they did allow one to view, would probably have this warning on the homepage of each site.

It starts there, but they could easily hit you with malware if you don't have protection from it, then track EVERYTHING you do.

But the gubment would never do that, they love us right? right?

Oh yeah, you can definitely make a case for that, especially with the recent SOPA & PIPA bills. I dunno if the Gov't can get control of every single website to do such things, unless they only allowed 100 websites through their super duper firewall. But if that ever happens, we as a species are done. Just hang it up.

Yeah sure, anything is possible, but it doesn't make it true . The porn sites you once surfed are way more dangerous than any .gov website to date.

Yeah, you are right about that for sure. But I take provisions to protect from malware and the such, because I once tried to do some surfing on IE and it was bad. lol

This has been true of every government information system since forever. Why would you expect to have a right to privacy while using someone else's computer system anyway?
