You focus on the "Canadian Pipeline" because the NEWS has created a fake crisis and controversy.

The TRUTH is reflected below, sorry

The Interior Department released a report that said more than two-thirds of offshore leases in the Gulf of Mexico and more than half of onshore leases on federal lands sit unused.

You might want to look a little deeper for the reason why the leases are going unused. Like this story here:
www.washingtonpost.com... _story.html

But oil companies say many leases, especially in the deep waters of the gulf, require lengthy planning, seismic data collection, environmental surveys and other preparation before firms invest in costly exploration wells and later in multibillion-dollar production infrastructure. The government does not count those preparations in its definition of active leases.
“We do not hold leases that we do not plan to develop,” said Kurt Glaubitz, a spokesman for Chevron. “In fact, we have returned 360 leases to the federal government since 2008 after determining that we could not find oil and gas in sufficient quantities.”

You see obamas only giving lip service on the oil leases. He has to make it "look" like he cares, which he does not. If he did, he would've green lighted the Keystone pipeline in a heart beat, getting oil plus creating thousands of jobs.

I rarely watch State of the Union addresses, no matter which President it is. I have learned one thing in my 51 years on this planet-every politician lies. They have to. It is their paycheck that vanishes if they tell the truth. They don't create things: they don't grow plants or butcher hogs or sell groceries. Their job is to say stuff and do stuff that keeps them in office.

I did watch 5 mins of the President AND 5 mins of the response. Both were gobbeldy-gook to me. I had a teacher once who was looking at a book. He said "words, big ones and little ones. You can read them if you want to, but the pictures tell the story." Both those men were saying words, but their actions are the only thing that counts. And they are politicians.

So, I plan my garden and feed my chickens and learn skills I can barter. Because no matter who is in office, it can all collapse in a heartbeat. Then, the only thing that matters is air, water, fuel and food. And sadly, a good working firearm.

I felt embarrassed by the standing ovation Obama got when he said,

The regime is more isolated than ever before; its leaders are faced with crippling sanctions, and as long as they shirk their responsibilities, this pressure will not relent. Let there be no doubt: America is determined to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, and I will take no options off the table to achieve that goal

First you get the cheering hooping and hollering in SC for Newt when he said we will kill our enemies, and now a standing ovation when the President basically says they are not taking war off the table.

REPUBLICANS are the problem! Stupid religious, racist, uneducated, hillbillies, in bed with businesses!

No it's OBAMA that screws us! Stupid hippy, socialist, elitist, snobs looking down their noses and giving my money to worthless deadbeats!

Guess what? You morons that think politicians do anything except what the money tells them to do are the real problem! Keep fighting with each other as if there are only two sides and everyone who doesn't play for your team is a worthless idiot. Keep listening to the lies on TV and treating the mainstream as the voice of God or Satan depending on where it's coming from (MSNBC, FOX, WSJ, The Nation, etc.).

Keep it up little children. Keep bickering amongst yourselves while the adults go into the other room and talk.

Try reading Chomsky. Those of us who have - we cringe at the idiocy of the rabble who believe in the Red vs Blue circus sideshow.

Let's watch the SOTU and then a football game! Free bread and games at the coliseum! Yay! My team is the best!

Such a crazy rant.

Political parties exist, and always have, for very useful reasons. It's not parties that ruin American democracy, it's the fact that there's only two, the fact that they're almost exactly the same and the fact that business controls them that makes them awful.

So you say it's not the parties that ruin American democracy but in the same sentence you say it's the fact that they're controlled by business. What a contradicting statement. They're alllowing themselves to be controlled, so it's they who are just as guilty. I don't know what country you live in but seriously....you need to open your eyes.

Oh and America is created as a republic not a democracy. That's what the PARTIES have turned it into.

reply to post by captainnotsoobvious

If you want to fix democracy, don't worry about political parties (they certainly aren't a reason to murder people as you claim), worry about what undemocratically controlled business is doing to your country.

The businesses are uncontrolled, yes but you fail to recognize or realize that AMERICA in itself is a business.

And why is it that people like you....(the reason America is the why it is, with your views), insinuate that people like me are CRAZY by claiming that what I say is nothing more than "CRAZY rants" when all I'm doing is speaking the truth?

People like YOU always feel the need to discredit someone by insinuating they're CRAZY and making absurd accusations how said person claims murder......No where did I insinuate Murdering anybody. Just to let their corrupt justice system find them guilty of Treason (also terrorism) and carrying out the appropriate sentence (which by YOUR American standards) would be the death penalty. Did I say Murder? please point that out for me. Thanks

I could insinuate your "ignorant reply" is nothing more than an uneducated, blind and neive. mental midget, but I won't resort to that.I have my views and beliefs which I tend to comprehend by actions not words. Anybody can say civil words and smile in your face while shaking your hand, yet be nothing more than the most corrupt, evil and deceitful creature to walk the planet. I call em like I see em.

I probably should have watched you did what you thought was the responsible thing to do even though like me I thought it would be tripe whose to say its his last one anyway. However look at the other side and the dog and pony show that's happening before our eyes. I mean three different primaries and three different winners? Whoever heard of such a thing? Like nothing odd is happening now everyone move along. Which is why I'm independent.

If that speech had been done word for word by Ron Paul
it would be framed in gold at one of the moderator's homes.

Obama is the least respected. Which is a crock of # ,
because he's probably the smartest one we've had in a long time.
So is being pro-American not what you wanted to hear?
Actually hiring Americans to work has you pissed off?
Or is it the FACT that GM is the #1 car maker in the world now?
And....paid every cent back. Does that one burn a little?
Boy, I haven't seen a single thread on that bit of news.
Maybe it's the FACT that government has shrunk under Obama, no?
Ending the Iraq war?
It doesn't matter. For some (and it's a minority) the hate runs too deep.

This is why I so enjoy living TV-less in the woods.. didn't even know that guy who calls himself president belched a bunch of lies on TV. I read about it happening, but thought it was next week.

I'm sure it was an uninteresting embarrassing joke of smiled lies.

Thanks for the laugh. obama the least respected? Obviously you slept through all the abuse that President Bush had to put up with through out his terms.
obama the smartest? He won't release his transcripts so how do you know?
obama Pro-American? He's never been Pro-American except around election time.
GM #1 car maker, not because of obama. And they paid the money back to get out from under his thumb, but your right on that these companies that paid back the money the government loaned them never seem to make the news do they?
Government shrunk under obama? Where?
Ending the Iraq war? Not obama, it was already in place under then President Bush to withdrawl our troops

You to, huh? Yeah, I've been feeling it for awhile now. And this country can't take another four more years of him. Newt and Romney know their stuff but to put them up against all the accorn double voters and the folks in the cemeterys voting for obama, I'll be very surprised if either one beat obama.

Most likely because, either you don't leave the house or talking politics is just wrong now a days. Ever one know the last two Presidents are a joke. I am hard pressed when I go out to not see the hate for our government. You can't go up the 99 here in California with out seeing all kinds of signs talking about ending congress or the president or the federal reserve.

Open your eyes mate its all around you. Have you not seen the bumper stickers? The Occupy movement with all their hate signs? The local crazy's on street corners? Local rally's and so forth its all around. Some thing will happen and soon weather or not this will be good for the people is another question.

This country has become a dictatorship it started with Bush and Obama has done nothing to stop it. There is a plan in place, they are just part of it. The problem is people just stare down party lines with out realizing that the two party system is a lie, its the same # just with a different speaker. Watered down, and used to play one side against the other.

People don't know this for some reason, until we abandon the party system nothing will get done for the good of the people. Just more lies, and cover ups. Its no secret how the media will switch stories to cover a cleb or some trash while some thing big has gone on. It started with Apollo 13 and continues to this day. We should not care more about some skank that is in movies more than the fate of our own nation.

Yet most people can't tell you what the NDAA is but they can tell you what skank A or whore guy B did for dinner last night. They can't tell you much about who the 22 President was or what he did. But they could tell you what snokki ate last night.

This country is going down the crapper and its the fault of every one here. We choose this, Freedom and our way of life died a million deaths. Every time an American was deceived into voting for the trash that has occupied the white house since Lincoln. That is were this country turned down the dark path.

When one man used race as a means to galvanizes the middle class into a war that was not needed to stop the south from breaking away from the union. Stop them from seeking fair prices for the unaltered goods that they would ship to the north that would than be processed giving more profits to the north than the south. What state wouldn't want to leave?

I digress tho, There is nothing going to stop this machine from doing what is going to do, because most Americans even those in this very thread myself included are either too afraid or too stupid to figure out whats going down. Shame on us, our children are the ones to pay, just as their children will be. All because we didn't have the guts to change our course.

I can already see the writing on the wall, another civil war is in our future, can you all see whats happening. I hope I'm wrong, yet I don't think so.

Ask the Government to come arrest your child for skipping school? Is that not a little extreme, and is that not going to make the problem worse?

The problem isn't kids skipping school. The problem is that kids don't see any purpose to being in school. Fix the School Board. I saw purpose is being in school, and did go. Many people I know dropped out, and they are doing just fine. Some people just don't do well in that type of environment, and with the school shootings and suicide rates, I see no reason to force these people into a bad position.

Arresting people who don't want to be in a Government institution is just plain wrong. School isn't draft dodging. That will just result in more delinquency and distrust of authority.
