Well we're already well into 2012 at this point, but I noticed we didn't have a thread for the albums people thought were the best from last year. I'm thinking we'll do something like Top 11 of '11. So put your thinking caps on and start figuring out what albums you thought dominated last year.

EDIT: Just to clarify I want other people to post what they think are the best albums of last year. This is only my list. It is not meant to be authoritative.

1. Pain of Salvation - Road Salt Two

2. 40 Watt Sun - The Inside Room

3. Inquisition - Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm (technically it had a 2010 release, but the U.S. didn't get it until 2011)

4. Steven Wilson - Grace for Drowning

5. Cormorant -Dwellings

6. Altar of Plagues - Mammal

7. Unexpect - Fables of the Sleepless Empire

8. Symphony X - Iconoclast

9. Bosse-De-Nage - II

10. Ash Borer - s/t

11. Negative Plane - Stained Glass Revelations

I haven't heard of any of them either....If Adele's album isn't in there, then, for me, it isn't correct

Well then make your own list. The point of this thread wasn't for me to post my list and then have people comment on it. It was for everyone to express what they feel were the best albums of last year.

Since the recording industry adopted the business policy of
"sue your customers"

I quit buying music.
I have plenty of older CD's purchased when they were not prosecuting their customers.

Other than picking up a couple CD's for my wife, I have not bought a CD for about 10 years.

Nice to see someone else who agrees that Steven Wilson's Grace For Drowning is one of the best of 2011.

I thought there were more music lovers on ATS. No one else has an opinion on what the best albums of last year were?

Since I've been working on boycotting the RIAA, I've been discovering ALOT of new music. The problem is that I don't pay attention to which year the albums came out. So I can't provide a top 10. That said, there are a couple of favorites that I do happen to know came out in 2011:

TELEPATHIC TEDDY BEAR - Reactions

OZRIC TENTACLES - Paper Monkeys

VNV NATION - Automatic

THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE - Imaginary Monsters
