Tokyo, Jan. 23 (Jiji Press)--Tokyo Electric Power Co. on Monday reported an increase in radioactive materials leaking from damaged nuclear reactors at the Fukushima No. 1 power plant.
The total amount of radioactive cesium that leaked from the containment vessels of the No. 1 to No. 3 reactors reached 70 million becquerels per hour, up 12 million becquerels from the December level, the power firm said.
It seems that radioactive dusts were stirred up because plant workers went inside reactor buildings and removed rubble, TEPCO officials said.
The outcome was reported to the second meeting on medium- to long-term measures toward decommissioning of the damaged reactors held between the firm and the government on Monday.
Last month, the leaked amount was put at 10 million becquerels each for the No. 1 and No. 2 reactors and 40 million becquerels for the No. 3 reactor.

This is gonna be the giant silent killer on the next century. Cancer rates will sky rocket in Japan and around the world! That's an almost doubled amount from last month (up 70 mil from 40 mil) and on top of that how do we know they're not lying and keeping the number down to not stir panic.

I started a thread a while ago talking about the radiation effects from Fukushima.

There is a lot they aren't telling us. And at this point it's too late for us to contain the damage.

Just wait until that nuke juice reaches the ground water... Kaboom will be an understatement.

Oh well, at least they are keeping the populations calm right?

according to wiki reactor 1 is over any recommended safe limit of leakage, and im not sure if wiki was updated, and I cannot for the life of me convert sirverts and bequrells -_-

the true story here has been covered for -FAR- too long, I hope more people take heed of the facts this time around.

These videos may be of interest. There is growing speculation that several recent earthquakes caught on live camera may be caused by a hydrogen explosion.
This was taken on 1/24/2012, 5-6pm local time. At 18 seconds, you will see a small flame, what I believe is reactor 3. At 23 seconds, the camera jolts and a larger flame is seen. Flames are then seen in several locations

On 1/23/2012, 8-9p local time, a similar situation occurred. At 2:05, a noticable flame appears. At 2:16, the camera shakes (similar jolt side to side like on 1/24), and larger flames erupt. I think this event was caused by the 5.7 earthquake. Higher levels of cesium were recordeded the next day in Tokyo.

Appreciate your opinions on this.
