Why do ATSers Feed the Trolls??

I know there's some sort of Site Wide Policy to give everyone an equal voice yada yada yada....but why do you all so typically feed the OBVIOUS trolls??

Aliens
Bodhisattvas

Anyone claiming to be any of the above has a 99.99999% chance of being a troll - is it all so bloody important to be all like "Deny Ignorance, don't just assume things without knowing" blah blah and give the Troll a chance to get proven they are a troll???? Is it really wrong for us to do the SANE thing and assume they are trolling?

It's a waste of Top Topic space to have a troll thread up there - I at least think that Troll Threads should get removed from Top Topics once it has become obvious that it's a troll thread (like, 2 pages is surely enough right?)


Why do you guy's even waste your time feeding them, replying to their Thread like "Got any proof you are an Alien?" what a stupid question!!

But the trolls are so fun I like to feed them because they are poor, misunderstood creatures, and I really want one as a pet. They're feisty little devils, and I like their spunk.

Is there such a thing as wasted topic space? Surely to someone out there this is wasted topic space and troll threads are practice for discerning between truth and the more subtle attempts at trolling. Not all trolls are the same, it's good to know the arsenal

There is a difference between someone purposely trolling and someone who actually believes what he is trolling. Some people actually believe sorcha fail, as evidence of that

Ehh hoonestly it is a nice reprieve from the doomporn out there, considering we know 99.99% is absolute rubbish.
It is a nice break to argue on end with obvious troll.
ATS is here for my entertainment, as soon as that changes, I will no longer give my clicks to the site.
You truly do not look at this site as an actual news site did you?
Truthfully, fox news is closer to the truth overall than ATS is, at least fox has to present something possible.
People just cannot separate the opinion from the actual news.

It's good to know the Arsenal?? Well New Member matey, try reading obvious troll threads for 4 more years and we'll see if you still have the same attitude towards them.


Also, Top Topics stay on the front page for more than the 1.5hours this thread will stay on the New Topics page. It's a waste of Top Topic space to be allocated to a troll thread IMO

Oh c'mon, let the wannabe illuminati douche have his fun, he's not hurting anyone. there are many better places to place your frustration, though I know how you feel. New to ATS does not mean new to the Internet, it's where my business thrives. I've seen a lot of trolling before it was the cool thing to do. Though I get your point, the "art of trolling" has and will mutate. I watch them, though I don't feed them. But alas...some people actually believe them...

The sad part is... youv'e become so cynical and worked up about it... you'll never be able to see the real truth when its presented. But that's life right. Boy who called wolf and all that. Trolls and fact deniers are major time wasters.

I think you make an important point. Just because something being presented does not fit into ones world view does not invalidate it.
What is an open mind - Well firstly it is not open minded to listen to new info whilst at the same time measuring it against what one already believes is so.
To be open minded is to set aside ones preconceived ideas and listen and see how the info may be so.
Proof is a limited beast - Science is slow and cumbersome in comparison to Intuition
Historically - How many times have so called experts and academics been proven wrong by the introduction of a new idea.

I abide in the UK - Yet from my observations of Ron Paul - He is a good man and would make a great president and example to the world.
I think some folk are trolls some shills as you say - But many times I see people accusing others of being Trolls and find closed minded attitudes to ones who are either mis informed or just too far out there in their ideas.
It seems too easy to label some as trolls when in fact they are not - Just saying.

I don't know what else to call some of these people though. If the same people keep bringing up the same things over and over again, despite the fact we have threads here explaining every detail of it and members personally explaining it over and over again, I would think it's safe to say they already know it and they are doing it for some reason other than their own personal knowledge.

As far as I know this isn't happening to the other 3-4 supporters of other various candidates here to the extent it is happened to Ron Paul related threads. Some people are apparently making it their life mission to discredit Ron Paul on the internet with propaganda... or they are getting paid.

In fact, I rarely use the word shill. I can't have typed it out more than 20 times on ATS since I joined, this thread might be the straw that broke 20 even.
