U.S. v. Jones: A Big Privacy Win

www.cato-at-liberty.org
The Supreme Court has delivered a big win for privacy in U.S. v. Jones.

That’s the case in which government agents placed a GPS device on a car and used it to track a person round-the-clock for four weeks.

The question before the Court was whether the government may do this in the absence of a valid warrant.

All nine justices say No.

That’s big, important news.

The Supreme Court will not allow developments in technology to outstrip constitutional protections the way it did in Olmstead.

You are correct.

It's just to bad you didn't add some other ATS threads to it like I did.

Already alerted ATS Admin to merge mine into yours or delete it.

Great.

That the news got out is all I care about.

I've stopped being a regular poster on ATS.

Not worth the wasted effort anymore.

Nothing productive is ever done with the information.

Talk is cheap, action is expensive, it costs to make a political stand.
