Ahmadinejad said in an interview on Mexican TV as part of a response to questions about U.S. threats against Iran.

He seemed a bit more calm this time.

I wonder why ?

He said atomic weapons are NOT necessary to defeat Israel !!
Referring to Israel as "The Zionist Regime", He said they "will collapse automatically".

Ahmadinejad rejected the possibility that the U.S. would launch a military attack against Iran, saying, “We believe there are wise people in the U.S. who prevent others to do crazy actions, furthermore, Iranians have learned how to live in hard situations.”

He added that history has shown that any foreign power that wanted to invade Iran failed and regretted it.

Never missing a chance to threaten Israel, Ahmadinejad said that the downfall of the “Zionist regime” does not need any atomic bomb and even a war because, as he said, the regime is based on cruelty and massacre so it will collapse automatically.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: Sanctions have no effect on Iran. We'll confront anybody who threaten Iranians’ rights.

I always find it ironic that the land that was the origin of Judaism has allegedly stopped to such disgusting behavior. Even more so that apparently, it will "destroy itself".

For being the birthplace of our main religions (which impress upon us the importance of loving one another), it's hilarious that Israel should be said to have such a destiny.

I'm just waiting for some media outlet to come out with a story saying he said "We will nuke Israel".

This would not be surprising considering how they have previously mistranslated his speeches.

Cool. Does it mean Iran will stop training,arming and financing their private army on Northern Israeli border? Somehow i doubt it....
And by the way, he was not talking about Israel. After all, he is speaking about regime, the same one that is supposed to be wiped off the map i assume. And so many wise people on ATS proved that it is not Israel.

And now they are being threatened. See, it would be perfectly fine if some US contracting company wanted to build nuclear facilities in iran. But no, since iran is doing it on their own accord, they are dangerous?

... not even "wiped off the map," rather: "[the regime occupying Jerusalem would...] disappear from the pages of history."

Blame Iran for what it is really guilty of (supporting Hezbollah, mistaking economic sanctions as an act of war, general antisemitic rhetoric at the state level - and not what has been clearly concocted by right-wing Western media pundits looking for a casus belli.
