Lamar, the author of SOPA comes back with an even worse bill

Can't this guy be KICKED OUT of congress at the next election PLEASE??? The guy is obviously a ``let's destroy internet for the children`` type of guy.

That name is what brought the anecdote back to me. A better name for the child pornography bill would be The Encouragement of Blackmail by Law Enforcement Act. At issue is how to catch child pornographers. It’s too hard now, say the bill’s backers, and I can sympathize. It’s their solution that appalls me: under language approved 19 to 10 by a House committee, the firm that sells you Internet access would be required to track all of your Internet activity and save it for 18 months, along with your name, the address where you live, your bank account numbers, your credit card numbers, and IP addresses you’ve been assigned.

Tracking the private daily behavior of everyone in order to help catch a small number of child criminals is itself the noxious practice of police states. Said an attorney for the Electronic Frontier Foundation: “The data retention mandate in this bill would treat every Internet user like a criminal and threaten the online privacy and free speech rights of every American.” Even more troubling is what the government would need to do in order to access this trove of private information: ask for it.

I kid you not — that’s it.

As written, The Protecting Children from Internet Pornographers Act of 2011 doesn’t require that someone be under investigation on child pornography charges in order for police to access their Internet history — being suspected of any crime is enough. (It may even be made available in civil matters like divorce trials or child custody battles.) Nor do police need probable cause to search this information. As Rep. James Sensenbrenner says, (R-Wisc.) “It poses numerous risks that well outweigh any benefits, and I’m not convinced it will contribute in a significant way to protecting children.”

Basically just like SOPA. Using a ``feel good reason``, they want to track everyone and have unlimited powers on the internet.

A bill like this is even more dangerous because it does the same thing as SOPA but it will be approved by more people.
People will blindly condone this bill just because it is "protecting the children".
In fact, the media will probably spin this in a way that it would make someone look like the biggest douche in the world for NOT approving this bill.

It will be like saying that the people who dont vote for Obama are racist and not politically correct.

They are trying to pass the Internet Filter bill for the exact same reasons in Australia. It's complete BS. If you want to protect your children from the dangers of the internet, buy your own personal filter, or here's a novel idea, supervise your kids.

It sounds like people will support this one more than the SOPA bill. "Internet piracy" is one thing, but who can say they're against trying to stop "child pornography"? It seems that they're attaching negative things to bills meant to combat those things. You know what I'm saying?

Stop internet piracy and stop child pornography both appear to amount to internet censorship, no matter how much of a feel-good bill it is.

I bet there will be a false flag to get this through. One way or another they are gonna try to rob us of a free uncensored internet.

Just let anonymous handle it...they did a pretty good job at outing the emails of the people viewing it and DDoS to shut down some sites recently.

Yeah...how can you protest child porn and not be seen as a "bad person." Hell...just close the entire internet down now. Might as well toss my computers, laptop and pad. They will be useless soon. No open internet at all. I knew they would try something else but not this.

Where does this jackass propose to store all this data? And I'm sure there would have to be backups. Hell...storing the data alone would slow the internet to a crawl with just the traffic from trying to keep track of it all.

This is absolutely insane. It's like the demented demon child of SOPA and PIPA. It will be like the worlds most effective tracking system. If they can't take down the pirate websites then they'll just monitor anyone who downloads copyrighted materials from the websites. I can't believe how much insanity has been packed into this bill, and it's all being pushed forward under the guise of protecting children. I feel like throwing up.

Child porn has existed long before the internet. I have never casually come across any child porn in nearly 20 years of internet use. This to me means that the only way you will see child porn is if you're looking for child porn. In other words, it isn't the internet that is creating or spreading child porn. It's the child porn people.

Getting rid of the internet altogether does not equate to children not being molested or taken advantage of. So how does censoring it or tracking everyone do so?

It just seems that some are hellbent on having a central agency in cotrol of the web so to speak. This is almost as disgusting as the idea of child porn if you ask me.
