I think Joe "The Roach Coach" was obligated to go to the police authorities.

Since when is a school above the law anyway.

I also think he knew all about this longgggg ago.

One of the theories regarding Joe Paterno’s involvement is the belief that his alleged inaction after his report to Curley and Schultz was out of a friendship between himself and Jerry Sandusky. Certainly it does not seem far fetched that a man who had coached under Paterno for 32 years would have built some sort of relationship with him. But not everything is as it seems. Inside the Real Paterno-Sandusky Relationship

Joe P told his supervisors of what he knew. What he knew were allegations. If Joe P was wrong about these allegations when he told his bosses, he could also have been scrutinized for false reports.
Joe P did exactly what he should of.
Guys like Mike Fransessa buried Joe P.
Why must people try to make themselves feel better by blaming innocent people for another persons vile crimes? Like if we bring down people who were not involved, suddenly child rape will go away.

""he could also have been scrutinized for false reports""

WHAT ?

That's up to the police and district prosecutors.

The others who were "witnesses" are guilty also.

The whole deal was a coverup.

Yes I remember the victims. I also remember who committed the crimes that gave the victims their status as such. Joe P didn't commit the crimes. That is like saying the rape victim is guilty for wearing revealing clothes.
Why scrutinize a man who actually went to his higher ups and told them of suspicious activity?
Are you saying Joe should have drawn illicit pictures or is somehow guilty for not having photo evidence on him when telling his higher ups? Isnt it enough just to say, "hey one of my coaches may be fooling around with young kids?
Should Joe P have set up a sting operation himself? Maybe lure Sandsuky to one of his practices and hire an undercover detective dressed as a young boy to meet Sandusky in private. Then Joe P could have seen what would have happened and personally cuffed and escorted Sandusky to the courthouse.

I think they should charge him posthumously
just to make the point

While Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly says that her office won't file charges against Joe Paterno for not reporting the alleged child sexual abuse by former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, [color=gold]the 84-year-old coach could eventually face criminal charges for perjury, obstruction of justice and violating the state's Child Protective Services Law. Paterno could also become a defendant in civil lawsuits filed by Sandusky's alleged victims. Those lawsuits could allege that Paterno negligently failed to prevent a third party with whom he had a supervisory relationship (Sandusky) from committing abuse.

Long Article Explains It

I wonder if he died with his eyes open and his mouth shut ?

Thats a nice attempt to try extremely hard to blame an innocent man, however even in that article the summary is correct.

"It should be reiterated that Paterno is at least publicly regarded by law enforcement authorities as a witness, rather than as a possible defendant; if authorities thought his actions clearly violated the law, he would have already been charged"

Evil exists my friend, but blaming innocent people doesn't make terrible crimes go away.
