Anonymous, the global-collective hacking group has threatened to hit servers, including Xbox LIVE over the FBI take-down of MegaUpload. Having already taken down websites that include those of the US Department of Justice and Universal Music Group, demands are now being made that if MegaUpload is not restored within 72 hours – The UN, Xbox Live, US Bank, Capital One, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube will be struck down.

Why are they attacking Xbox live, what has that got to do with anything?. IMO its only going to make MS etc agree with SOPA instead of going against it. So i think some people might of been right, and Anonymous are playing right into their hands...

Ok some I'm now 100% sure this government controled. Maybe not the hackers that participate(if there even is any) but the person calling the shots is.

what a waste of potential...

Anon you have the power

What a great point! I had forgotten about that, thanks for reminding me. That leads me to think that maybe what others have sugested that its a falseflag could be possible. Start a cyberwar when SOPA looks like its going to fail, track down the hackers and threaten them with jail time unless they do A B and C? I can see this administration doing that, look at Fast&Furious... something to think about...

No one in this thread seems to be reading anything online. Why would Anon go against sites like Facebook, Google, and Twitter. Those, and many others, came out in staunch objection to SOPA/PIPA. I do not think that they will actually attack any of these sites. FALSE FLAG.

Thats why we are all calling this a false flag now.
Sure at first i didnt think anons attack on the.gov sites where a flase flag. but the more this goes on and who they are picking to attack sure is making it seem like a false flag,

Xbox keeps alot of kids out of trouble so prepare for increased crime rates if its true (which i doubt).

MICROSOFT : XBOX LIVE PREVENTS CRIME WAVES!!! NEWS AT 11.

You're kidding right?

Maybe they'll go climb a tree, lose weight, stop saying noob and remark at what a strange contraption this thing with two wheels is?

How on earth does it work, you depress these peddle parts and suddenly you are propelled forward. Is it a powerup???

"stfu noob, i pwt u wanna 1v1 me looser" -- much more how the kiddies should be acting.

I was talking with friends of mine about the sopa blackout. While there was a lot of support from the online community including users of sites like facebook and twitter, I know its only a matter of time before everyone forgets about sops and goes about there lives. It's sad but if people don't feel directly affectedby an issue, attention wanes.

But take down facebook and twitter? There will be mobs in every street. Here's to hoping Anonymous brings them down. I'll be interested to see how quickly people wake.

Great point - every day in the news paper in the gossip section, there is - believe it or not - a small part dedicated to what morons on twitter have been saying.. you know, local celebrities and the like...

I wonder what they'd all be doing, think Ashton Kutchers million or so followers, all going "BAWWWW" since they can't read about his stubbing his toe at 4am...

Man if I could...

Oh my god
How sick we've become
The prospect of some of you being unable to update your Facebook page - for 3 days ,
not being able to let your DIGITAL friends know when you've picked something out of your belly button
Not being able to to play Xbox online ( can still play by yourself )
Oh my god a real end of YOUR world scenario
They've said nothing about hacking YOUR ACCOUNTS or attacking the user in anyway
But hey let's not let the truth stand in the way of your GAMING
Your under attack in real life from TPTB
But becose some ones going to disrupt your digital illusion for three days people are up in arms
Crime rates up !!!!!! Really how's about parents engage with their kids
How's about people take some responsibility - yeah my 15 year old went out and got in a fight - becose face book wasn't working
Anon would appier to be on OUR SIDE ( pls note appier to be ) but if you can't do face book for 3 days you'd rather your REAL LIFE freedoms were take away
Then when your rights are nicely trampled things like Facebook will be shut down or so heavily policed your cries will have no effect as the means to resist will have been destroyed ( just so you could play Xbox )
I personally can't wait for some kind of mass population die off or collapse of civilisation , we all know something's comming and those of you that struggle to unplug will be the first to go ! The rest of you better learn fast or become a burden.........bring back survival of the fittest and repair our gene pool - not survival by reciving handouts while you sit on yet ass playing
Now I'm no major prepper but I know if and when TSHTF I'll be able to get by and contribute well to any community that develops - what's being able to 360 quick scope noscope gonna do ?
Xbox face book ect is meant to be something you do with your spare time
But LIFE has become what you do between Facebooking
Rant over

i don't really follow your logic there. Almost equivlant to me saying that if there were no dog fighting sites there would be no more dogs getting fought. Infact probably just as many dogs would be fought, i'd just never be able to see it on the internet. Anon will cause more of an uproar by taking down xbox(f'd up sounding i know, but it was affect more people on personal level) than it did by killing a few pedo sites

i can see why theyre attacking xbox... if sopa does happen then the gamers will be next . itll anger alot of gamers but in the long run if microsoft is supporting sopa theyll lose the game down the line anyway maybe some will see whats really happening and do something who knows... not looking for an arguement ... just my opinion peace people

time to wake up people things are going to change
be that SOPA
be that ANON

the struggle has begun
now poses the question whos going to win?

bear this in mind tho..regardless of what you may think of Anon there public with there ops and actions

now ask yourself this.....does your goverment do the same?

this is not about agreement from the masses this is about trying to change thinks from a digital point
is hacking right? dont ask me as im biased
is lying to people and covering up truths because you want to censor the masses right?
you decide for yourself

either way this is not going to go away and its gonna get worse before it gets better

With all those "anonymous" anouncements, the SOPA etc. I smell a conspiracy. Come on, "Operation BlackOut". This sounds like a good reason for TPTB to shut down the internet. to "protect" us from anonymous.

I personally don't care for Microsoft, i don't even own an Xbox and certainly don't like anything about SOPA. I was mostly being sarcastic, but now that you mention it, didn't a bunch of hackers get into sony a while back and steal a bunch of CC info and user accounts and such? Yea i work hard for my money and when i spend it on an online game for a monthly fee and some hacker comes along and breaks into the Sony servers and steals my CC info and I'm suppose to support that because i happen to agree with whatever the hacker is protesting? My money is just that, mine, politicians steal enough of it from me already...hands off...
edit on 20-1-2012 by roaland because: mis-wording

I agree 100% with both of your comments so i gave you a star for both
.
Some of us here are gamers, and don't deserve to have our accounts hacked etc just cos someone is pissed off at someone else...

Yeah it does suck that they are willing to affect so many innocent people in their haste to prove their point. Certainly there are better ways to send a message without disrupting others? Or maybe they feel the message is more important than the temporary disruption caused for the people...which I suppose has historically been true in rare cases. The part I can't quite understand is, if they are all about freedom and fairness then why do they release personal info of so many people. Sometimes a person works for a company in mid management because they have a family they need to support and they have nothing to do with the decision that annoyed the group yet since they work for the target company their info gets released...not fair.

I don't see much of a problem with it. I can barely write a paper without having facebook and twitter open on other tabs, AND playstation network. INEXTREMIS, this attack is justifiable. Think about it, who would've known about SOPA if it weren't for facebook and twitter.? We retweeted "STOP SOPA" and Posted it on our walls. NDAA is a much more damning bill but the response to SOPA dwarfed it. Why.? Because like my calc. teacher would say to my class once a week, "humans beings are creatures of habit." (Bout the only teacher i've ever respected :duh
" When something threatens our daily routine we will raptorously respond.! It just sucks that we care more about our facebooks and twitters than our RIGHTS.

I'm a gamer, but not a 'crazy ass hours and hours' kind of gamer.

XBL is Microsoft. Microsoft was endorsing SOPA/PIPA were they not?
That's reason enough for Anonymous to go on the offensive.

I have no idea why you got so many stars for that post.. Microsoft is AGAINST sopa, which is why this makes absolutely no sense. It would make more sense to attack playstation network then, since at least that is owned by same company that owns sony pictures.
