Anonymous, the global-collective hacking group has threatened to hit servers, including Xbox LIVE over the FBI take-down of MegaUpload. Having already taken down websites that include those of the US Department of Justice and Universal Music Group, demands are now being made that if MegaUpload is not restored within 72 hours – The UN, Xbox Live, US Bank, Capital One, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube will be struck down.

Why are they attacking Xbox live, what has that got to do with anything?. IMO its only going to make MS etc agree with SOPA instead of going against it. So i think some people might of been right, and Anonymous are playing right into their hands...

It will force an entire generation of gamers to take a look around and realize "oh nuts, what have we been ignoring for the time i've played synthesized reality.

I'm a gamer, but not a 'crazy ass hours and hours' kind of gamer.

XBL is Microsoft. Microsoft was endorsing SOPA/PIPA were they not?
That's reason enough for Anonymous to go on the offensive.

sony learned their lesson after the psn outage. they pulled their support of sopa. and they lost nothing since psn is free.

xbox live on the other hand is $50 a year. multiply that by millions of screaming fanboys and 10 year kids and you're talking serious cash.

it shouldn't be to hard for anon to pull off. if it's anything like windows it should take a 12 year 7 mins. to completely hack and destroy.

Stinks of propoganda or a possible false flag.
Xbox keeps alot of kids out of trouble so prepare for increased crime rates if its true (which i doubt).

Anonymous wants to attack a government site? Ok i guess if they got the "you know what" knock yourselves out.
Anonymous wants to attack video gaming now?
Oh now you've hit a nerve!

You are mad because you can't play your precious games? I am a gamer as well and I don't accept of Microsofts support of SOPA/PIPA, even if it didn't pass. Guess you are against something unjust unless it affects your little comfort bubble right?

Sounds like they are angry, and serious, judging by the words in that video, especially the line at 1:25.

I can understand where they are coming from, for sure. But the backlash against this could be huge, and not at all positive.

Interesting times to be alive.

I was talking with friends of mine about the sopa blackout. While there was a lot of support from the online community including users of sites like facebook and twitter, I know its only a matter of time before everyone forgets about sops and goes about there lives. It's sad but if people don't feel directly affectedby an issue, attention wanes.

But take down facebook and twitter? There will be mobs in every street. Here's to hoping Anonymous brings them down. I'll be interested to see how quickly people wake.

Thats what i mean, if they go against google and MS and them other guys they are just asking for trouble, and now it really does sound like a false flag.
And i thought MS was against SOPA??.
Anyway if they do this to google and ms and all them companys expect them to be screaming for SOPA
.

I personally don't care for Microsoft, i don't even own an Xbox and certainly don't like anything about SOPA. I was mostly being sarcastic, but now that you mention it, didn't a bunch of hackers get into sony a while back and steal a bunch of CC info and user accounts and such? Yea i work hard for my money and when i spend it on an online game for a monthly fee and some hacker comes along and breaks into the Sony servers and steals my CC info and I'm suppose to support that because i happen to agree with whatever the hacker is protesting? My money is just that, mine, politicians steal enough of it from me already...hands off...

They better get juicy stuff from the UN servers or this is fail
Of course it could be a false flag. It is very convenient that they are anonymous

The PSN thing happened well before SOPA, and it was cos of them trying to get Geohot jail time, and blocking the Other OS etc, nothing got to do with SOPA...

I agree 100% with both of your comments so i gave you a star for both
.
Some of us here are gamers, and don't deserve to have our accounts hacked etc just cos someone is pissed off at someone else...

False flag. If only we could convince the hoi polloi that they need to react to this by embracing the outage rather than asking the government/police to go after those responsible...

They are sheepdogs who see wolves gathering in the shadows. When sheepdog get together they will rip wolves to shreds. It is just a matter of getting people out of their trances and back into reality.

Shouldn't Anon do something that will actually make a difference?
A while back they attacked and brought down several Child Porn sites...
Anon earned much respect from me for that...
But sites of that content still exist...
If Anon wants to better the world and help humanity
They can step up their campaigns against such vile sites
ending misery for millions of our youth...

Instead they chose XBOX?

what a waste of potential...

Anon you have the power

Yeah it does suck that they are willing to affect so many innocent people in their haste to prove their point. Certainly there are better ways to send a message without disrupting others? Or maybe they feel the message is more important than the temporary disruption caused for the people...which I suppose has historically been true in rare cases. The part I can't quite understand is, if they are all about freedom and fairness then why do they release personal info of so many people. Sometimes a person works for a company in mid management because they have a family they need to support and they have nothing to do with the decision that annoyed the group yet since they work for the target company their info gets released...not fair.

I agree 100%. It would be ok if that person is involved in illegal activity or something like that. imo anon are becoming a bit of a joke, and is going to ruin the internet for the rest of us...
