this is my take on the whole thing:

what we have are competing views on the sanctity of created goods. in effect the time, labor, and intellectual input that allows the creation of goods or services, is not viewed as valuable in other countries, beyond what is necessary for getting the goods created and delivered, which often boils down to cheap or slave (free) labor. and as the usa becomes more and more socialistic, it too has become less and less interested in the value of the labor or creative processes of its citizens.

it wants to demand by law, that you work free of charge (read slave labor). this is all part of the plan. when they tell you that you should demand the right to free stuff that wasn't initially created as free stuff, they are in essence saying that your fellow humans should be treated as slaves or paid so little, their lives are subject to countless deprivations (the life of a slave).

that's the whole thing in a nutshell. it's how it all boils down when the dust clears.

OP, use the search engine....

No And stop yelling....

This thread was up 10 minutes before the one you linked.... So,the OTHER thread needs to be closed down.... Not this one.

Not that it is for you to worry about. They have mods for this you know. Try alerting them rather than making off topic posts that only show that you didn't really pay as much attention as you thought.

Now, on topic. Yeah, the White House site is up and running fine. I did not check out the other sites though.

I am not sure what to think. I can see Pro's and Con's.

Such a retaliatory action will show the government that the people are getting fed up and starting to do something about it.

However, the Government may just be encouraged to crack down even harder...

As far as the internet and censorship is concerned, it is getting closer and closer for both sides to show their hand....

I wonder who will win.

it's really sad that the only two options here are:
no freedom of expression
vs.
your time, talent, work, and life, are meaningless in the face of the greater good, and the greater good can be a veritable tyrant once suitably manipulated (mob mentality)

either way, they win, because the end goal is to take every single right you have as a human being, and turn it into free slave labor with no outlet for expression.

the issue with us all being so powerful is, this is the same mindset that lead to the witch burnings, the inquisition, the stoning of women, the enslavement of large groups of people in siberia, the enslavement of large groups of people in germany, and etc. why are we just merrily traipsing along towards our own demise as a free people?

the guy in that video linked on the site aquarianunicorn posted,
is saying the movie industry and the banking system are run by people who don't know what they are doing.
that's a falsehood from what i can see. they know precisely what they're doing. that's why they are successful. and they want to keep it that way. but other countries don't want them to keep it that way. they want free labor. they want to force citizens of the usa, to give them their creative goods and labor, for free. . folks, we're gonna all end up on a global plantation if things keep going in this direction.

I'm suspicious.

Since anonymous IS anonymous, pretty much anyone, or any group for that matter can fly the anonymous flag, and do so convincingly if they adhere to historical patterns of anonymous deployment.
Even active participating members of Anonymous proper may not actually KNOW anyone else they're 'working' with.

This is a big part of the point. Anonymous are only really decentralised in terms of the people taking the actions. In terms of the people who come up with the ideas for their ops, however, it's not decentralised at all; you get the same group of people, or close to the same group, pretty much every time.

Anon are open in the sense that anybody can show up on the IRC server and take part in an op, at the grunt level, yes. The more interesting question, though, is who comes up with the ideas for the ops themselves. Who designs the websites, or co-ordinates the LOIC attacks? When I was on the IRC server at least, there was a private LOIC co-ordination channel, and that definitely was NOT open to whoever wanted to just cruise in.

So is it possible for Anonymous to be compromised? Definitely. Has it happened? Who knows...but I wouldn't be surprised if it had once or twice, at least. There is a lot of room there for someone like George Soros to hire some particularly charismatic alpha teenagers, who *could* successfully private army the rest of the herd.

I remember when I got my first trumpet winsock disk... downloading Netscape via gopher, # was definitely different then but even during that time, when # ran on windows 3.1, there were talks about who would own and censor the internet later on.

I wasn't a believer, it was really hard to imagine how they could sensor something that was so free. I mean, I could visualize governments trying to arrest people who were uploading certain documents but government listening in seemed way too 1984-ish to ever actually happen.

Now we got them listening in not only on the internet but everywhere. Everywhere we go, there's no place to hide, they can see us, even at home. I didn't used to be the paranoid type but I will admit to that being pretty creepy. Yesterday they wanted to inject with a muscle relaxant for a neck injury at the hospital, to which I declined, I was being paranoid about what was actually in there and the doctor seeming pissed off that I refused didn't help, I mean, my neck wasn't broken and I preferred dealing with the pain than having chemicals and who knows what else injected inside of me.

But this is what I'm getting at... through all this paranoia that setting, and I do find myself pretty nuts at the moment, I think that just could be one of the reason for all this. I seriously doubt that media rental and sales have that much to do with SOPA at all.

Also, what ever happened to levys enforced on ISPs for distribution of pirated material? If these companies received 10$ from every internet user in the world that would mean a #load of money for these studios. The bigger they are, the bigger the cut, seems fair enough and I certainly wouldn't complain. As for government listening in, that has to be a group effort from the community. I'll be making a post about my idea on this soon but it has everything to do with direct democracy, a new form of digital government.

So there you go.. how it was, how I used to see it, how it makes me feel now and my solution to end this dumb ass digital war.

This Barrett Brown character who speaks in the video above is just a FBI leach it appears. In the video he is there to help anonymous and to very willingly stick his "neck" out, while claiming that he is untouchable from the police. So i decided to perform a internet search on him and found this [link] www.chronicle.su... [/link] it appears he is just a front to round up all the "anonymous" hackers ..yes i see that it is dated on may 4th, 2011 but it doesn't make a difference

it makes sense that the socialists went after teens, initially, because they haven't as yet experienced what it means to work for your livelihood. so some guy's creative labor means about as much to them as their mom and dad's creative labor, which is free for them to use as they see fit (with provisos, of course, but even provisos are missing when it's someone else's stuff).

i was always under the impression that the idea was to give out of your abundance or out of the charity in your heart, not at gunpoint or LOIC point. and although i understand why people are upset about SOPA and PIPA (cause it sucks), i also can see what inspired SOPA and PIPA in the first place, is the outright insistence that everyone else's labor belongs to you whether they want to give it to you or not. that's theft plain and simple.

that some person's creative labor is not always freely given, can say more about him than just black or white, greed or charity. assuming it's greed is ridiculous. he may be poor or struggling. he may be working on an important project and even the slightest change could effect the success. he may have been working his whole life to bring about some innovation, funded by some cheaper project that's being taken for free just because these people think you should give them whatever they want.

many of these places overseas are lead by people who are not even remotely generous with their creative labor. in fact, all their slaves pay for their success and their luxurious lifestyles. which is where socialism has lead our nation. i'm seriously freakin' out about anonymous' role in all this.

i don't want sopa or pipa either, as is evident from the comments on here. the issue is, should people in foreign countries, such as china or timbucktwo, be allowed to take your stuff for free and use it however they want, if you didn't offer it for free in the first place? if the whole planet decides americans are their little slaves, what's gonna stop them? we are, afterall, becoming a global DEMOCRACY where mob rules and 51% gets to say what the other 49% have to endure. i liked the original american idea better, where there were safeguards in place, based on the constitution and bill of rights, and these people decided based on the constitution and bill of rights, whether someone else could be enslaved. and they learned = no, other people should not be enslaved.

then, in some mind numbingly bizarre decision, one of our president's gave it all away and sold us out to the socialists (was it woodrow wilson?). soon the 51% will be able to vote away your right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness from across the planet.
