what is the spiked nation site?

Is it a legal site to view? Im curious because when i google videos that comes up every so often, but I am a bit suspicious. any clues?

Could you please elaborate for those of us who have no idea at all of what you are talking about?
For example, why would it be illegal? and what is the content of these video's of which you speak?

Good question. Nothing sinister on my part, but I was looking up something about Ukraine and googled it .then the most appalling picture I have ever seen popped up and it was on a video on that site. So it made me wonder what that site was all about

Ok so i've looked into it and it turns out that it's some kind of GIF sharing site of some sort and yes it does contain some graphic images and a considerable amount of pornography, but it is mostly just cats doing funny things and the like.

I can tell you a lot more about the spiked nation website. Being a member of the website since its conception i can tell you there is quite a history behind this website.

My spiked story begins in 2003 when a mate of mine points out this website www.spikedhumor.com. It is a video sharing website where people upload various content for others to see. Similar to youtube but not as much rubbish and what is shown on the front page is voted there by the users. Content included videos, jokes, news articles and games. These could be funny, graphic, sexy, pornographic, interesting, smutty. It could be original content, clips from tv shows, or just something you had found on youtube or anywhere (there was a fair amount of content from collegehumour) but there was plenty from other places. There was also a picture gallery made up by user submissions and also a daily compilation of gifs compiled by one of the admins.

At some point in time (i forget when) a bigger web company took over spikedhumor. they decided to make spiked humor a little less NSFW so they created another website with the same format but slightly different colour scheme. (from a dark grey and black colour scheme to pink and blue). This website became a fairly well known porn site which i feel most people have heard of... spankwire.

After Crave took over the site and the pornographic content was removed the website also started adhering more to copyright laws. No more clips from tv shows, or movies. the video player was changed countless times.

Towards the end of 2010, the spikedhumor admins got an email from crave saying they were closing the website. not saying when or why... just its closing. we were all left guessing. They stopped support for the site and a few of the features fell by the wayside. Picture gallery stopped working which angered many users, but the loyalists hung around.

In December 2010, spiked humor was shut down.

In January 2011 spikednation was born. Led by a few of the admins from spikedhumor and with donations from spikedhumorists the website was released in beta (and still is) and the community has been growing ever since. In its current format videos can be posted only through embedding videos from youtube vimeo and videojug. The weekly gallery is made up of user submissions to the spiked nation forums and gifs are posted daily by 2 admins Flynn (our beloved rabbit) and Violetninja (hard core anime fan)

It is a legal website and its a fun one to have a browse of. you do see some pretty funny and interesting videos. beware though that the gifs section is more often than not NSFW (especially when Flynn posts them.

Anyway that is my story about the quaint little site known as spikednation. I know it was a little bit tl;dr but I felt i should explain the history.
