The following smiley does convey how ridiculous & funny I think this is:-

Apparently it all comes down to the fact that The Pirate Bay has a .org domain — and according to Masnick, the current version of the SOPA bill working its way through congress excludes American domestic domains from being the target of takedown notices from copyright holders. In this case, a “domestic domain” is any domain that comes from a TLD run by an American registry — and sure enough, .org’s registry is Public Interest Registry, a US non-profit based in Virginia. In other words, thepiratebay.org isn’t eligible for a SOPA-based takedown, even if its servers are based in Sweden or another country outside the US.
The internet has proven time and time again that it’s virtually impossible to control.

Lamar Smith huh?
I am sorry this thread is to funny, I needed that good laugh. Not trying to be rude, but
that photo of him looks like he may be a total jack###.

So.. If I just switch TLD control on my sites to the .org names instead of the .com, I'm temporarily immune from SOPA if it passes? Well..That was easy! Of course that loophole wouldn't last long... Kinda like the NDAA nonsense about no Americans involved.![]()

Even though I'm opposed to how SOPA is written, I'm not opposed to punishing people who steal other peoples work. No honest person with credibility is.
The thieves are the cause of this in the first place. The ultimate blame rests squarely on their shoulders. They are the root cause and bear the most responsibility and shame. Being a thief is nothing to brag about and yet the lowlifes who do this stuff brag as if they are not the pond scum they truly are.
SOPA needs to be rethought and rewritten and opposition to it in it present form, should not lead those responsible for it in the first place to think they have the support of honest people, because they do not.

Word games don't make stealing right. I find it amazing how people try to rationalize theft to make themselves feel better about doing it. When a person downloads somebodies product without paying for it, they are thieves.
Do you think things like movies, music, books, photo's and graphics magically appear? Or do you suppose they are the product of the authors years of learning, buying equipment and software and long hours creating the product?
If taking the product of peoples work without paying is not theft, then what is it?
The other answer is that authors, artists and photographers could simply quite producing their products and remove them from the market. Why bother if it's wrong to want pay for work?
There is no ethical, or moral difference between going into a store and shoplifting a CD or downloading pirated copies. No amount of nonsense will ever change that.
All of that just to say you don't think people who publish books, write music, perform music, record music, create art, create movies or any
other intellectual property should not be paid for the work they do even though you like it enough to risk prosecution by stealing it instead of
buying it.
People should just stop making stuff if they don't want you to steal it
you like it enough to risk prosecution by stealing it instead of buying it
Yeah sure People should just stop making stuff if they don't want you to steal it
