Newt Gingrich: "Let's allow terrorist attacks to happen." - Ron Paul ad

It just dawned on me that "Don't plot with terrorists" means "don't plot with the government" since the government has to be responsible for ensuring the population is adequately terrified. Silly, I know, and preaching to the choir, but that's really what he's saying.

I read the Boston Globe piece on Romney, and the authors who investigated him for five years stated it was impossible to tell what really happened at Bain Capital Ventures. He says he created thousands of jobs, maybe, but any one who knows about VC firms can tell you it's a "pump and dump" operation. They seed companies with money then sell them in a better off state for a profit. The usual result is layoffs once the companies are sold and restructured.

So Mitt may have created jobs, but at best they were temporary.

Anyway, I sincerely believe the GOP doesn't have a snow ball's chance in hell at beating Obama. Where is Christie, where is Huckabee, where are the GOP heavyweights? That's my private conspiracy, why did the Republicans abandon the 2012 playing field to half-wits and tools?

Edit:If I am to answer my own question, I think the smart ones know Obama is unbeatable and are waiting out his next four years while the clowns put on circus.

By the way, what Newt was saying WASN'T that we SHOULD or WILL let attacks happen, but rather he said this to make a point. Not that he wants it or would make it so. Just saying. I'm not trying to say he's right or a good man or anything, but this statement is being blown out of proportion. Makes me think that people are really starting to grasp at straws to make it look like bad things are happening.

The original video posted is way out of context. Just like any other political candidate, people are making him look bad by rearranging his answer to questions to make him look bad. Please watch the video I attach to see the entire answer he gave.

It is just like the short clip of Romney going around saying he likes to fire people. When you see those 10 seconds it sounds like a really bad line on his part however, if you hear the entire speech, what he was saying is that he likes being able to fire people such as insurance agents if he doesnt feel they are giving him fair service. Meaning if he doesn't like Statefarm, he can make the decision to switch to all-state.

Be careful how you take the vids you see on youtube. They are edited and put up there to make these candidates look bad.

Dude we know what Newt really meant. If you know Newts history he has a lot of dirty under his finger nails. He has been speaker of the house when all things were going down in the 90's, and yet failed to realize that. So even if he was sugar coating it, I like my facts without sugar.

To a limited extent, I am willing to agree with Gingrich. Rather we should take some risks than gratuitously give up our own civil liberties out of panic and caution. Instead we have locked ourselves down so that we were living a more restricted existence than was Osama Bin Laden.

Thanks for adding the link. The new video does put his comments into proper context, but it still leaves me questioning his remarks as a whole.

His comment of letting an attack happen was not said in a way that he meant it literally. He was saying that the FBI is doing such a good job (in their own eyes) that we are becoming too comfortable. We need to stay prepared for anything on any given day.

Almost like they need to let one slip just to keep us awake. But not literally saying we should allow it to happen.

they (the government) should have allowed an attack to get through to make sure people are properly terrified and therefore not question the methods.

He was stating that we are toocomfortable and need to stay aware. Not that we literally need to allow an attack.
