Iran to return US secret drone... as a toy

rt.com

Reports say the US is to get its top secret surveillance drone back from Iran. The catch is, the device, intercepted in December, has been reduced to 1:80 of its original size and is being marketed as a popular toy.
Iranian state radio was quoted by Associated Press as saying on Tuesday that the US RQ-170 Sentinel stealth drone toy models would soon be on sale in Tehran.
They are expected to sell for 70,000 rials – around US$4.
One of the models will even make it to the White House in response to a formal request from Washington last month asking Iran to return the top-secret device.

I'm actually quite surprised by this. I had initially thought of a few jokes behind China getting hold of the specifications for the captured drone... as we all know China is famous for manufacturing small plastic toys.

But as it turns out Tehran is doing it themselves. It's good to see there is some humour left in the world especially with the recent problems that are going on with Iran and the Western world. I wonder if they will ever be sold/marketed in the US for consumption by the general public?

I had not heard that, but there is also this in the article;

Reports also suggest the trophy might be put on public display after a thorough examination, and in a year or two it may be put up for auction.

This is a funny story for sure.

Really though...putting it on display in the next year or two...well that is if Iran isn't already a glass parking lot...which seems to be where things are heading.

Either way...I seriously doubt that the US is going to stand back and let them display their trophy!

I didn't think this story could get any funnier than the spectacle of the White House actually asking for their spy drone back! I mean really?

"Er... yeah Mr. Ahmedinejad, we were violating your sovereign airspace to spy on you. Can we have our spying equipment back?"

Doh!

Making a toy out of it is genius, but please, please, pretty please Iran... put it on eBay!

Toys are expected to be made, even in the United States. I'm sure RC enthusiasts are dying to get there hands on functional RC version of the RQ-170.

The RQ-170, it was a matter of time before one got lost. Just Lockheed alone, has a large collection of classified programs in the area of Small UAVs such as the one lost in Iran. You expect them to send the most classified one with the highest and most sensitive technology to Iran?

i bet we let them have it. i bet its "old" technology of ours.
i bet its all a plan to let them think they are a match, or dump time and money into developing for the wrong counter measure in their last moments before an attack.

70.000 Rial...that's 7000 Toman...an average monthly salary(if I'm not mistaken) is 500.000 Rial, so 50.000 Toman.

So a monthly salary will get you 7 toy planes.

WAY TO GO ISLAMIC REGIME, you freaking dumbasses.
