People claim that they love Jesus, but yet, it's like no one actually listened to him. "You have heard that it was said, "Love your neighbor and hate your enemy." But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" - Matt 5:43-44
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God" - Matt 5:9
"If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect." Matt 5:46

I could just go on forever.

I just don't know how to reconcile the fact that so many people in this country are ridiculous hypocrites. I try to love them. I try to forgive. But I feel like I've got to hold people accountable. These evangelical Christians need to STOP denigrating the word of Jesus, they need to stop treating Jesus himself as something to be obeyed only when they WANT to obey him. When I was not a Christian, it was funny to me that these people were so clearly disobeying their own religion. Now that I have become a Christian, it is actually horrifying, that anyone could label themselves a follower of Christ and do blatantly the opposite of what Christ said. Especially when it comes at the cost of the lives of thousands of people.

Christians do NOT glorify death in any way. These Christians are Satanists at heart.

Not watching the debate and watching the clips on this means what?
Did not know you hold the final say in who can and can't comment.

I like the thought of getting rid of your enemies.

Regret in taking the life of someone that means to harm you is not in my wheel house.
Nor remorse for that person(s) either.
Would I find joy in revenge?
Yeah, I guess to an extent.
Maybe walk through life in not wanting to harm others.
In this sense, one is defense, the other is offense.
Would I exact revenge to anyone that hurt my family?
You bet'cha. Without a second thought.

I am not talking about what you personally would or would not feel or do. I am talking about the issue of finding joy in the killing of--or the thought of killing--a person and how that reflects a mental health issue that is not...healthy.

To quote my original post:

The issue is not the killing of the enemy, it is finding exuberance in the thought of and action of killing another person, be it enemy of not. Even if one has directly harmed you or a loved one, one might get satisfaction at "revenge" and in killing, but to enjoy the process of killing is..well...

To find ]joy in and to become joyful because of the killing of a human, even if in war, is not ordinary. It's borderline psychopathy.

A nation rallying behind the killing of people, even in war, is not healthy for the state. It's barbaric.

The soldier with a sigh reluctantly recounting how he killed the enemy
Vs.
The soldier bragging with laughter how he shredded a bunch of those folks, as bullets ripped them apart.

Entirely different mental health issue.

I also said satisfaction, not joy, at revenge. Big difference.

Ok, I guess.
Would I get satisfaction in ending the life of someone just arbitrarily? Nope. Not one bit.
Would I get it towards someone that means to harm me or has harmed me? Yep.
Satisfaction in knowing the threat is gone.

The recalling off events and then adding humor to it is a human coping mechanism.

Again, I find nothing wrong in killing my enemy that wishes to do me harm.

I would loose no sleep over it, nor be sad.
I would be happy to be alive.

you are just a pawn in their little game. nothing more nothing less. to your unit, your life might be important but to them you are just a sacrificial piece. the way we are headed, war with iran is imminent. tell me this, how are they a threat to the us? stop justifying to yourself thinking you are fighting the bad guys. have you ever wondered you might be actually fighting FOR the bad guys?
