Don't get me wrong, I love this land and all it has to offer. So why wouldn't you want to share it with others? I feel blessed to have been born here and I know many people that have travelled hundreds of miles just to live here as they were born in poverty stricken countries. No one chooses where they are born in the world but we all are born on the same rock at the end of the day so show some love to your fellow man and welcome them to your home or else you may be sorry when this country goes down the toilet and it is you looking for a new home.

You have most likely never left your own state let alone your own country, you probably have no experience of a NHS, and therefore no understanding of the crap you and your other American ilk spew about such a system. Any time I have ever used the NHS, I have been treated with nothing but the utmost dignity and care, far from the "broken meat machines" male cow dung you speak of.

You keep your own medical system, see how much you like it when you have to mortgage your house just to pay for a minor operation. I'll think of your plight as I recover from a hypothetical quadruple heart bypass at no immediate cost to myself.

For my whole effort to point out how much nationality doesn't matter and the fact this just happened to occur under the UK system, that is all you took away? I get the impression you have a lot of real hard feelings for Americans, but try not taking it out on one who just got done making a point with runs along with yours, not against it.

I wasn't slamming the NHS....just the mentality the whole thing apparently engenders, and we ARE seeing it here too. The concept of Government and Societal ownership of ALL things and people as being absolute is new, but becoming accepted faster than I ever could have imagined...and it's happening in many nations.

Yikes...

Indeed, it is simply flesh once the spirit leaves the body. However, think about a grander purpose in storing the brains of newly minted human beings. Perhaps their brains are somehow different.

No problem at all. I'm no thread nazi about on-topic. lol.... I'm kinda surprised by some of the hate my little thread attracted. I'm choosing to ignore it, but I don't blame you for responding.

It's a bit surprising to find anyone who isn't outraged about such a practice ever having gone on without consent or knowledge of the next of kin. The strong emotion behind it really is something to see.

Hard feelings? You funded IRA terror in our country for over 40 years, I see the USA as pure evil.

I actually do think it is wrong.

I have just basically been playing devils advocate because there is some (a modicum) of justification for this practice before the law was changed. Anyone involved after the law was changed should go straight to jail and not collect their £200!

You are pathetic.Go to africa if you love seeing negroes all day long. England is for white people.

wow is all i can say to that
just based on that comment alone you have made yourself look a complete fool
i guess thats the downside of our country people that truly believe anything other than a white person is not English or has a right to be in the country
let me guess your gonna spout on about "they come over here taking our bloody jobs"
shame certain groups of british people think that really as the very same certain groups wouldnt get outta bed for the very same jobs pay
hypocritical but i gues thats the mindset of Racists
must be very hard for you being Colour Blind in a multicultural society?

back on topic
such a sad story and kind of shows how messed up the uk goverment and health service can be sometimes

England is behind Germany-China and everyone else in brain research.

hirnforschung.kyb.mpg.de...

England needs more research into Brains before they can't use their own brains anymore....somebody else takes over theirs.

When i was teaching, one of my colleagues was/is married to one of the world's foremost specialists in the effects of mobile technology on the brain. As such, his firm had contracts drawn up with various bodies in the US (im assuming it must have been approved by the government) to take the corpses of prisoners, mentally impaired, etc to basically bombard with mobile signals and to then dissect to see the results. The brains of these organs had to be living tissue otherwise it would invalidate any results. I discussed this several times with her husband over a couple of years. It was fascinating but he never divulged how the brains were, in effect, still living.

The point i am making is that similar things have definitely been going on in America!

This is the most stunning post I've seen in my short time on ATS.

My first thought is these people were on life support. A friend of mine was on life support after a car crash left him with a fence post stuck in his head. When the ambulance arrived they couldn't find him, he'd crawled off with the snapped off post stuck in his forehead. He's a Devon farm lad, they build 'em tough. After ten days the doctors wanted to switch off his life support, the family asked for another 24 hours. Next morning he woke up and went on to live a not exactly normal life. He had unusual abilities. Such as the ability to fill an ashtray exactly to the brim with bright green vomit. Perhaps you don't want to hear about his other unusual abilities but my point is dead isn't always dead. I shudder at the thought of experiments such as this.

I don't think it was as sinister as my post may have led you to believe - for example, im fairly sure some of those used were death row inmates and the organs taken immediately at the point of death.

Like i said, he talked about all sorts of aspects of the research but not the actual getting the organs bit so i am totally unsure on that bit. He did show me pictures of the machine they used though - think on the lines of an MRI machine but with what was basically lots of criss crossed cheese wire at the end! It was both extremely cool and rather disturbing!

My outrage on this topic and subject isn't from the practice of Body parts being harvested and kept for science or training. It's ignorant to think it doesn't happen and naive to think a world can exist with doctors and medicine where learning isn't advanced this way.

I'd noted that there are plenty of unclaimed bodies in any major city. Prisoners are another class where unclaimed bodies are not unheard of. If shortages still exist, fine.. throw prisoners some commissary funds or something for signed consent when the time comes. There are ways to get what is needed.. but not like this.

This isn't just immoral...it's just a violation at the deepest level imaginable. This is suggesting an acceptance that nothing..but absolutely NOTHING is ours. Not even our own bodies or the parts therein. If we're ready to give even that last thing...that last ownership of self for, as some have said 'the good of society'..then what is left?

Really...have we sunk that low?

You are the squeaky wheel. Why giva a damn if your body is cut up after you are dead?
Your body does NOT belong to you, it belongs to the universe.
After all, you are made of the same star-dust as the rest of us.
There is no heven, no hell. And morals are just a figment of the human races imagination.

Its the distress it causes the family that is the problem, you tit.

Okay.. For all the responsibility I may hold as an American for what Irish citizens were allowed to do by a Government I'm quite obviously not fond of myself.....I'd note something about a minor disagreement the British had with us awhile back. Yes....Y'all burnt our house down as I recall. It's something we probably still ought to be sore about. After all, you'd be equally unforgiving if we burned down Buckingham Palace at some time in the distant past.

Since both examples of blame have about as much relevance to individuals like you and I being hostile toward each other, I guess both are equally valid.

Oh well... Have a good evening over there anyway. Have a pint or something... Maybe it'll help.

Perhaps the reason he hasn't talked about the getting of the organs bit is because they were neatly wrapped up in a body. Surely an MRI machine takes a whole body? Were the criss cross wires the transmitting part of the machine? A well known presidential candidate has changed his view on the death penalty because, "With the DNA evidence we've found so many people were wrongly convicted." I agree that this research is needed. Personally I'd rather see it carried out on the shareholders who expect to profit from the subsequent selling of the technology.

No, the Canadians burned your white house down after you tried to launch an invasion. This is not the same as funding and supplying arms to a terror organisation that cost the lives of 3,524 people, for which I hold each and every single American personally responsible.

This is really wrong for the UK , a major low. At least get permission from the parents for research. Stealing brains of kids without a loved ones consent disgusting.
