Where did I say it was safe to drink?

I just said I don't personally see the point in it being added to drinking water.

I don't know how you've construed that as me saying it's safe to drink.

Why don't you see the point in adding it to the drinking water? I'm just curious..

Oh yeah? Since when?
Sodium Fluoride for Drinking Water
Note the arsenic and lead.
Does anyone actually read anything NOT supplied by your government?

Little FYI for you.

Fluoride has absolutely zero value for protecting the teeth, after the internal growth stage.

What this means is fluoride only works and is needed when teeth are developing, under the gum-line, so in essence we only need trace amounts when we are younger.

Bad teeth stem from poor diets, rather than lack of fluoride.

perhaps instead of a new thread about how bad fluoride is on ats every month, ats members can start a petition or SOMETHING, ANYTHING to actually get fluoride out of our water systems

or, just have everyone flag this thread like crazy, forget about it by next week and have another thread about fluoride in about 4 weeks from now

Doesn't it prevent teeth from rotting? My father has been drinking water with fluoride for 80 years now.

I am very leery when people tell me "it's a drug" when there are no discernible effects. On some forums i read people claiming caffeine is sooooooo bad yet does not have this effect on me. I mean, i like coffee and would miss it but to this person it was "a drug". I dont know, i drink it and if i miss it it does not register in my brain that i missed my "fix' like some claim or "bounce off walls". Funny thing is people have been drinking fluoridated water for ages, like my father, who is over 80 years old and still going strong. He did loose his teeth but al least they lasted longer than people whose teeth rot by 40.

When you say "it" as in "blame it" what do you mean by that? If you mean failing health, no one is blaming fluoride as the sole cause of failing health or the main cause, nice try though.

And judging by your logic a person cannot question the negative effects of cell phone radiation if they smoke cigarettes.

Caffeine is not an industrial waste byproduct, so this would be an extremely poor analogy.

Again there is no evidence that fluoride prevents, nor works on cavities. It's amazing what years of propaganda can to us from a young age.

Why does anyone try to rationalize ingesting fluoride, when it's more toxic to the human body than lead?

Why?

Why.

It's so sad. I like how I'm part of an "ilk" now, as if not ingesting poison is unsound, nefarious and strange.

More FYI for you since your a Newb on ATS.

I am not sure what j/k means and second it is against ATS T and C, which mean Terms and Conditions to post one liners.

One liners typically mean that the member has not taking the time to think, nor research, a viable intelligent answer to someone else's question, or comment, thus the No One Liner Policy.

Syphon,

You get a star from me. It's years of slowly induce brainwashing from birth, and our egos will never allow something to be questioned, nor challenged if that is the way it has always been done.

One of the reasons I love ATS is because we have members like you, willing to ask the basic questions and "Deny Ignorance"

Here is a little fun fact for the hell of it.

Here's a picture showing locations where geographical areas associated with groundwater having over 1.5 mg/L of naturally occurring fluoride.

Recommendations of fluoride intake range anywhere for 1.0 mg to as low as 0.5 mg in higher elevations.

That is a large area of the earth where the ground water naturally contains amounts greater than recommended amounts or fluoride.

Side Fact:

Notice the area of land that is the furthest from the fluoride. The UK... they also have notoriously bad teeth!

Just kidding..... that's probably a coincidence.

I am bringing out a point to you. Even to this day my father drinks right from the tap, he made it to 80 years old. Luckily he gave up smoking over ten years ago but i cant say the fluouride had a negative effect on him. For that matter most of his "healthy living" friends are dead. I even estimate that for 20-30 years he was on a scotch, cigarettes and tap water diet. It is funny because when i see him and he goes for a drink of water i say "not that" meaning the tap water but lately after turning 80 years old i say "go ahead, drink the tap water, your 80 yo ffs."

Edit: That was an exaggeration, dad's diet was not only scotch and cigarettes. He always kept it under control.

I don't drink tap water at all. The sad thing is that most bottled or filtered water still contains flouride, as well as spring water.

Spring water (and rain water, and stream water, and lake water and hell, even sea water) contains Calcium Fluoride. Calcium Fluoride is a natural substance that causes no harm in it's natural concentrations. The stuff in your tap water, toothpaste, etc. however, is Sodium Fluoride, which is by all interpretations of the term, toxic waste. Wouldn't surprise me to discover research on Calcium Fluoride being cited in defense of municipal Sodium Fluoridation.

Hell why don't you guys parade around saying alcohol is drank everyday and is highly toxic and bad for your health and body.

* * * *
l?

Your argument is wholly invalid. This issue is not about the old maxim that "the dose makes the poison.

The difference between fluoride and alcohol consumption is that alcohol is consumed by choice. The imbiber pays for his drinks voluntarily. It is not forced upon the imbiber. I have yet to hear of any municipalities that add Bloody Mary’s or Martinis to their water supply. Fluoride is forced upon everyone who lives in a community where it is added to the water supply. They are forced to pay for it whether they want to ingest it or not. How did you manage to miss that simple distinction?

If you want to drink fluoride, or consume any other toxic substance, please freely exercise your right to ingest as much as you like as often as you wish. Just don't force it on me and my neighbors by mixing it in something that we have to pay for.

The arrogant stupidity of those who allowed themselves to be hoodwinked into having their municipalities pay to add the toxic drug fluoride to their community's water supply is profound. They should be prosecuted for this crime against their constituents. Where in the charters that define their powers is it written that they are granted the power to add drugs of any kind to the public water supply? Their responsibility is to provide clean sanitary water. How does adding toxic fluoride promote that purpose?

Here lets play.... for the hell of it.

Imagine humans.. caveman like creatures living in small sects move to an area. This area contains fluoride naturally in the ground.

All of a sudden these human's start collaborating and commuting. They realize that they are smarter than others that don't live in their area. They start talking to each other and decide to bestow a gift onto the other lesser humans.

Behold Water Fluoridation!

So remember the next time you turn on your TV or type on your computer you could have still been out in the woods punching a monkey somewhere.

Originally posted by NeoVainI live in Sweden, we do not flouridate our water. Our natural water supply is considered poisonous if it contains more than 0.2 ppm flouride.

So yes, flouride is natural in water, but in very small parts. Water in the U.S have flouride artificially added up to 1 ppm, which is 5x the amount that is considered poisonous in Sweden. I feel sorry for you guys.

My state has been adding fluoride to the vast majority of supplies, for decades. My town has been fluoridated since the 60's, and the CDC and government "assures" that there is at least 0.7ppm to 1.2ppm in most if not all municipal supplies.

1.2ppm.

I'm sure they 'go a little crazy' some years, and it probably encroaches 2.0ppm. That's kind of a given. Who knows how it accumulates in some areas more than others, either. Some people are probably getting mega-extreme-doses.

While I totally agree with you that people shouldn't be forced and blah blah blah... show me proof that it is indeed toxic in the levels we are given it?

It has been the standard since the 60's. Think about that for a second. The 60's. That's 50 years.

We are more intelligent and we are less sick. The only area we are less healthy is we don't exercise as much.

So all I can think of that would make your argument valid is that if Fluoride made us American's eat a lot of Micky D's and other unhealthy fatty foods.
