I don't believe in the Christian God, let alone the Christian bad guy -- "Satan," so I am absolutely NOT obligated to share any strange puritanical beliefs about the naked human body.

In fact -- my hang up's -- such as they are -- are centered on violence. I believe there should be a LOT more nudity in movies and on TV, and violence should be toggled back by quite a bit.

But if you want my honest answer, "war" is the only pornography, and people who love violence but hate nudity are the scariest creatures in the entire universe. YMMV.

I'm Canadian...

But I love strippers

I prefer them in real life, but they make good movies too

The strippers are better in Canada so if you ever have a choice, choose ours.

I feel like seeing nudity is less harmful than the extreme violence in movies.

I would rather my children (older kids) see breasts than gory violence.

I find it funny. Being nude considered wrong, evil or whatever. If people went naked more, we would all probably take better care of our bodies.

First let me say this is a really interesting post and I enjoyed reading it. I watch a lot of movies and I personally think nine times out of ten the nudity and sex scenes aren't necessary. My 16 year old daughter and I both enjoy horror movies and its hard to find many that aren't full of sex-believe me, while I'm no prude I find it disturbing to be watching a movie with my daughter and seeing that. I'm certainly not trying to speak for every American but I for one don't like it.

So you watch horror movies with your sixteen year old daughter...those movies are often filled with extreme gore, mass murderers, twisted ways of killing, senseless slaughter.

But something that shows the human body unclothed is what offends you?

While I would never strip for money or in front of a cam....as a dancer [non stripper], I find the human body amazing....more so in movement.

I wish that society didnt make nudity so taboo.....we all have a body.......and if society didnt make such a big deal of it, it would not be such a big deal. It would also cause those who are insecure to not be so insecure.

Grant it, I would not want to walk around naked all the time
I am a chic and LOVE clothing and shoes and all that
......but for people to be shocked at seeing someone naked just seems ridiculous to me. Especially when many people find other body parts much more sexier than the ones that everyone wants covered.
Someones eyes and their facial expressions and voice and the personality that comes out of someone is so much more sexy and appealing than what is under the clothing. Seriously.

And what is even more ridiculous to me are religious people who feel that nudity is wrong.....yet didnt God create the human body? Is the human body not a work of art created by him? So if that is so, why is it shameful to show the human body in its natural form. So in essence, God created something very shameful? I will never get that part

So, as an American, if actors want to take their clothing off in movies, go for it. More power to them. They are much more brave than I am!

ETA...I have a 7 yr old...and while I wont let her watch sexual material, if there is a scene of a naked person, I would never shield her eyes. I wont teach her that the naked body is shameful. I wont push her to be a stripper (I believe there are far better ways for an intelligent woman to make money) but I wont make her grow up thinking nudity is bad and the human body in its natural state is bad.

Most Americans don't seem to have a problem with nudity in movies, or on TV for that matter. Box office sales, and cable subscriptions speak loud and clear on that. It's usually the minority that raises all the hell about it. And usually get their way if the number of "banned" shows, commercials, and billboards are any indicator.

After looking over many opinions here, I can say that I have to change my stance a bit towards, "Depending on it's purpose".

I still do not agree that "Stripping" in movies is ok by all american standards.

As some put it, the viewer has the choice to "go watch something else", one could argue that the same holds true for that mentallity. If one would want to watch a movie star strip, "go watch one". Porn would fit this bill quite well. They are movie stars by nudity and sex. They have their own awards as well. Though, i'm not really sure if I can ever remember a movie that had nudity in it that didnt use it as a tool in some way shape or form, for sales.

Though the reason I dont get a thrill off of watching an actress strip, is that I feel that the act of doing so for that reason very demeaning. I feel the same way about porn, but everyone has their collections, right?
Though in the porn industry, that's what they sell.

Art.. hmmm I'm all about art. I think there is a diffrence in art these days... What is deemed art..
But, there are decent art out there that can be appreciated.

Nudity in it's purpose is beautiful... throw in some skank... you have yourself a soft core porn movie, just with alot of other stuff.

Nudity in comedy... Sure. Keep it off the "Family" TV. That's what cable should be for. Having a child say the F word on a "family sitcom" is nutz.

For my point of view, We should keep this country clean to a childs eyes... Let the family decide what they should and shouldnt see. Not the local avertising agency, or some government supposed source that decides what's ok for our kids to see.

I watch movies for action/adventure/comedy... not for sex scenes. Not for nude scenes that's supposed to take my attention away from the story line a while.

who wasted their time writing this? Nudity happens in real life. Movies depict things that happen in real life.

It is simply nudity - there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I would actually say the opposite - repressed attitudes over the last thousand years have led to the huge number of people around today (from every nation) that have serious body hang ups.

We are what we are and we have what we have - get over it.

But in answer to your question, i guess it depends on the type of actor you wish to be. For a Michael Caine type, why would you need nudity in a film? They are generally about plot and character rather than nudity and special effects.

But for a Jessica Beal? Well, with acting skills like that then nudity is the only option!

'All Americans' are not one mindset. We have many different beliefs and feelings. We are ALLOWED TO. It's what freedom is all about. Unfortunatley, that's something that the people in Iran don't know about. The 'morals police' won't let them.

I think Hollywood is the most shameful land on earth. I think maybe there other other lands that people do shameful things , but they don't try to change other people mindsets and they are not partner of Satan. But in Hollywood live partners of Satan

I think what is shameful is totalitarian governments that forcefully 'change other people's mindsets' ... like in Iran where the 'morals police' beat women and throw them in jail because they dare to have bare feet in sandals THAT is true evil and partnership with Satan.

I personally feel that nudity is ok in movies as long as its not gratuitous. As long as it fulfils the artistic message that a director is putting out, then I think its ok. I won't even begin to try to expound on how anybody could determine if a scene is gratuitous or artistic. I have my own opinions, and have definately seen movies with both, and know when I am seeing a gratuitous nude scene, but my opinions may differ from everyone else.

It's a great method to influence the mind. Just as food loaded with sugar or salt, hooks the audience and keeps them wanting more. The best movies usually have no nudity(just my opinion). And also since most people in society generally not as attractive, it gives people what they are missing at home. That is why people are addicted to the recent HBO shows. My girlfriend is supermodel hot and just about the sexiest thing alive so I don't have that problem..

The reason the actors do it is lack of God in their life, my opinion of course.

You ever been to Europe? If nudity bothers you, don't go to any beach in Spain, nor watch their commercials.

Yeah, gotta agree. The US is one of the most prudish countries in the world. And nevermind Europe, have you watched Disney lately?

As for the Satan and all that, had to give up the fairy tales after I was raised Catholic. Talk about obscenity! And anyway, I would rather have my daughter watch sex than violence. Why do we worry about the lesser and allow the greater of the evils. Never got that.

Oh yeah, cause we want our kids to kill other people for our Government. You might want to step back a little, I think your are missing the forest for looking at this one tree.

I disagree, why choose less of an evil? And you shouldn't write off Jesus due to being catholic, they lost credibility by not keeping thje Sabbath long ago..

I have not always believed Jesus to be the true God of the world but in my adult life I have opened my eyes to see our whole society is set up to deny Him and Him alone..Sorry to turn the thread elsewhere but this is a fact that I have come to realize without outside persuasion and by the looks of world events it sure does seem like scripture in real-time..

Also let me add most feel its ok because they are strangers stripping, if it were your mother, sister, cousin, neice, granddaughter most comments would be much different...I have a very high sexdrive yet I am in a relationship with someone who is more attractive than just about anyone you will see naked in a movie so my viewpoint is different being totally satisfied... Though before I met her I will admit to watching more porn and very happy to see naked wopmen in movies...I would guess most who want to see more have next to no attraction at home...no offense to anyone in particular...Never settle for less I learned the hard way, but a lesson well experienced.

Haven't you seen all the nudes from centuries ago by the "masters"?

Weren't we all born naked? I know I was.

Also, how did I come about to be born in the 1st place?

Sex and nudity are natural, probably the most natural parts of a human life, why should we frown on it? Why treat sex like something dirty, when in fact we're all here because of it.

as a brit i'd say the reason for being naked has to be believeable such as theres someone breaking in and the person goes and grabs for their gun since a nightie wont deflect many bullets etc but excessive slapping of bits does get boring and genrally it seems to be a cheap way of getting exposure to sell more seats at the cinema to see celeb x getting their bits out for the audience

And that is certainly one of the ways illuminati wants to full people's head with concrete. So people pay them their head gets filled by concrete and future propaganda.

Like 2012 , ww3 and other meaningless things that people won't believe when some one on ATS types. But when

1.great sound effects and
2.beautiful girls
3.and handsome men
4.Some little reality from the outside world

come into the play.
