Oh i agree, facts taken out of context, and twisted to fit there conspiracy's,

A small small handful of the rebels was Al Qaeda, but in conspiracy world they all Al Qaeda was right? oh wow now the US is working with Al Qaeda, wow what does this now mean, how can we now spin it?

LOL

The fact is dear old chap, you will struggle to NOT find a single Al Qaeda member in any middle eastern nation, funny enough Al Qaeda is an organisation of all Muslim countrys,

Cool - thanks for that.

So the next question is - ARE there actually US troops in Malta right now? What are they tagged for? What units & services are they from? Where are the press reports that say they are there?

All I can find other than stories repeating her blog post is this article in the Times of Malta from back in March 2011, reporting 400 U.S Marines being reployed there.

www.timesofmalta.com...

I'm looking for other sources describing deployments to Malta, but I can't find anything other than her story being repeated over and over on numerous blogs and sites, even when I restrict the search by date.

Not saying they don't exist, of course. Maybe someone else can have better luck.

How's about this instead:

Dear Mr. Obama:

Thank you for stating that you will close Guantanamo and subsequently doing so. I have no need to ask you whether or not your statement that you would close said base is true or false, and I rest assured in the knowledge that Guantanamo is indeed closed in spite of what the media, bloggers and the like have to say. You're the man!

Sincerely,

TIWWA

Thats a GREAT idea. You can ask about Gitmo also.

But What does it have to say about the validity of you asking for a yes or no answer, about the OP's question......

Why is President Obama sending 12, 000 U.S. troops to Libya?

Why are you sidetracking this?

Seems to me the Hoax, falls more in line with your personal beliefs.

No spin about it.

You really want me to call/write The White House, ask if they're deploying 12,000 troops to Libya and report to you their answer. How's this for sidestepping your request:

I won't contact The White House and ask them.
The end.
Fin.

Sure.

Obama himself saying hes sending 12000 American troops to Libya.

Thats not too hard for you to GET,right?

Corresponding with the White House

Either you are incredibly naive or a good practical joker. You honestly believe that the government would be completely forthcoming to the likes of this type of request? Really ? Iran-contra ring a bell. I'm not saying in this particular instance that the source is credible but your suggestion is about as daft as one can get. Wow...a new low for ATS congrats.

brill

I believe if you dont even ask,,and definitely dont want to ask,you have no right to claim it as proof.

When does someone elses version of a made-up story, qualify as PROOF on ATS?

Thats the "low" on ATS. Unverifiable crap, being spun as legitimate proof.

DENY IGNORANCE.

Their objectives were very clear...

The whole PNAC strategy was the modernized form of Brzezinski's strategy for controlling the middle east (and other regions), back in the 70s-80s.

Most people tend to not realize that this isn't some Bush-era strategy for oil, but rather a long running US strategy as a global empire to control and mitigate global regions and resources.

When does someone's rant invalidate a print article as unverifiable crap?
When does someone's rant serve as legitimate proof?

We're still awaiting corroboration from other sources. This has not been proven to be true, neither has it been proven to be a hoax. Ranting won't further this thread. So stop yelling at me. You're fogging up my glasses.

You were answered that in the same post.

dont Cherry pick..........

Especially, when you have a chance to ask Obama this.

Enough though. You are entitled to your beliefs,as I am mine.

I will have no problem, apologizing,if said information becomes factual. Until then,I stand by that this is a HOAX.

She was reportedly on board that flotilla to Israel and ended up in an Israeli prison, and also a blogger had this to say about her

Kooky leftist former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney has been making the media rounds across the Middle East in recent weeks. She’s appeared on Libyan state television several times to show support for Gaddafi and condemn the NATO action to unseat him. But this video you have to see. Cynthia McKinney may be the most radical far left person in America. She talks about having read Gaddafi’s “Green Book” for “Direct Democracy” (Socialism). Gaddafi’s “Green Book” was inspired by Chairman Mao’s “Little Red Book.” McKinney says she was so intrigued by the green book that she took it home to show her fellow kooks. She would like to see America governed by a similar Commie book. What a piece of work this broad is, no?

www.thehotjoints.com...

She is clearly socialist, and apparently POTUS' warmongering is bothering this crowd.

Oh yeah, ever read that little Green Book? I haven't, but I heard that it describes a better democratic program than the one in the US.

I have no problem with waiting for more information before deciding whether this is a hoax or not.
If this turns out to be true, then perhaps we can get back to the original question from the OP -

"Why" are they being sent to Libya.

As I've said, if this is true, Libya is a chess square, our troops in Libya (once there)* will serve as a chess piece to be moved into an attack on Iran from there as well as other positions in the region.

* If they're not already there

I'm sorry for jumping in but...

North Africa is nowhere near Iran and wouldn't be worth a damn as a staging area for this supposed attack on Iran.

I think you're stretching a tad bit there.
No matter how many times you try to force a square peg into that round hole...

The Case Of The Maltese Fiction

If there are 12,000 U.S. troops in Malta being staged for an invasion of Libya, they would apparently be there in violation of the Maltese constitution. That is, if the Maltese Foreign Minister is to be believed. Consider this report from March 7, 2011...

Malta 'will not be military base'

Foreign Minister Tonio Borg insisted this evening that Malta would not be used as a military base for actions against Libya or any other country because that was forbidden by the Constitution.

He explained on Bondiplus that Malta could only be used for military purposes for self-defence or in terms of a decision by the UN Security Council with the consent of the Maltese government.

I've been trying to find some evidence -- any evidence whatsoever -- that foreign troops have been, are or could be stationed in or operating from Malta, and except for the presence of an Italian military mission of less than 50 people which has been providing technical support since 1988, am coming up empty-handed.

Malta is not a very big place, and 12,000 troops are not easy to hide. They would need a place to stay, food to eat and a lot of logistical support to maintain any reasonable degree of battle readiness.

If anyone can find any evidence that Malta could possibly be hosting 12,000 U.S. troops preparing for deployment to Libya (or allowing them to be there for any reason at all), let alone be willing to do so in violation of its constitution, I would be interested in seeing it, because I can't find so much as a shred, and I've been looking pretty carefully.

Without some credible indication that it is even possible for 12,000 U.S. troops to be physically present on Malta, or that the Republic of Malta would ever agree to such a thing (which would, based on what I've been reading, amount to political suicide for its leadership), I find it unlikely that this story is true.

Well, at least you're talking about "why". As to my "why", well... just a guess.
Just for the sake of argument... if this is true... what is your reason for "why" they're being sent.

There is no why IMO.
Obama is up for reelection and would get politically slammed hard if he agreed to this scenario.

Well, I DID go to the suggested site and write/email the white house and used pretty much what was suggested. Since I have about 10 alias email, I used one of them.

Here is what I wrote and as soon as I get a response, whatever it is, I will post it here.

Dear President Obama,

Are you planning to send 12,000 troops to Libya? I have read on several sites that you are. There are many people waiting for your honest and transparent answer.

A YES or NO answer will suffice.

Sincerely,

alias name.

I immediately got this response:

Thank You!
Thank you for contacting the White House.

President Obama is committed to creating the most open and accessible Administration in history. That begins with taking comments and questions from you, the American people, through our website.

Our office receives thousands of messages from Americans each day. We do our best to reply to as many as we can, but please be aware that you may find more information and answers to your questions online. So, time will tell. I'll let you know! Maybe we ALL should write the letter.
