Indeed they do.

I saw that on TV a few years back, and tried it for myself, and darned if it didn't work. My BOB has a pack of, no doubt stale by now, fritos in it. It doesn't surprise me that cheetos would do the same.

Useful information to have, at the right time...

Try rubbing the oily finger cheese in tiny kindling.

Most of the fire lube is on the outside.

I should think that would work, or at least help with lighting a fire in more adverse conditions...

That is amazing. I had no idea.

I wonder what would happen if I rub two Cheetos together.

Please do NOT do this, especially NOT on 12/21/2012

On a serious note, the principle is probably the same as a CANDLE or a oil lamp.
The cheeto serves as a wick and the rest of the cheetos is all vegetable oil, so its basically like a candle.

"Food doesn't burn like this"

What do people think calories are?

In essence, "I will NOT eat any food that can be set on fire"

Good luck with that....

If I get a chance today, I'm going to collect some sticks, spanish moss, pine needles, cheetohs, and my magnesium fire starter block, and see if I can use the cheetohs to help build an actual campfire.
I'll video it and post it if I can!

Were you able to film/post anything? Or was anyone for that matter? Interested to see more! Thank you to the op for sharing

this is great. the idea is to burn the Cheetos low and slow to get kindling going. or heat source for hand warming.
hoping to see some footage.
