How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?

32

Which is worse, failing or never trying?

Depends. like, successful cliffdiving into a small pond..better to not try than fail that one.

If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?

Doing things we like makes time fly. doing things we don't makes time drag on..sort of like life extension.

If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?

tickle fetish toymaker

Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?

I am answering philosophy questions on a friday night. what do you think.

Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?

Right things trumps things right. looking in the mirror is important at the end

You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire. They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend. The criticism is distasteful and unjustified. What do you do?

Start by saying person is my friend, cheer on the flaws initially after that, then say what isn't true, and talk qualities of the person and why I am friendly with them. This has actually happened before. I don't mind telling people I am friends with the unpopular person...I also don't mind discussing any fair criticism. I do mind distasteful talk of anyone though (unless its all just good fun and funny as hell. but hell, I will talk poorly about myself in such a way also)

If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?

eat

Would you break the law to save a loved one?

of course

Have you ever seen insanity where you later saw creativity?

I have been on ATS for awhile..so yep.

How come the things that make you happy don’t make everyone happy?

I enjoy complicated things. I know many don't.

Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton?

genius for things I can change in some way, simpleton in things completely out of my control.

Why are you, you?

The guy in the mirror's spot was taken

Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend?

only to my friends.

Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?

old memories. Nothing is as good as the first time. being able to re-experience..hell, that sounds like a gift verses a curse

Is is possible to know the truth without challenging it first?

You didn't need to put anything after the word truth. I would say no...it is almost impossible to know the truth..about anything fully.

Has your greatest fear ever come true?

Yes

Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset? Does it really matter now?

Yes (see previous question)

Why do religions that support love cause so many wars?

Who said love = peace?

If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job?

hmm..did I win a job along with that million?

Would you rather have less work to do, or more work you actually enjoy doing?

if you enjoy doing your work, your not working.

Do you feel like you’ve lived this day a hundred times before?

this pattern, a thousand + times before..but the day is technically new.

If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today?

someone with a bunker..everyone I know dying suddenly, thats some big stuff going on..nuke...meteor...

Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years to become extremely attractive or famous?

yep...those last 10 years will be me in diapers trying to remember what a thumb is used for anyhow..pointless existence of senility trapped in a broken body does not appeal to me.

When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards, and just go ahead and do what you know is right?

When the calculation is complete.

If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake?

We can learn from our mistakes..not a given we do learn.

I got one for ya:

When you die, people will never remember what you said, or even did..only how you made them feel. How will people (individuals: Family, strangers, friends,) remember you in regards to how you made them feel.

or

If you were throwing a party with all your friends, and had two other people but only one invitation, would you invite the really funny guy, or the somewhat boring but highly intelligent guy...Reversed, which one are you..and consider that..what are we rewarding in society.

-rarely gets invited to partys..working on humor as shown in some responses-

Decisions are being made right now. The question is: Are you making them for yourself, or are you letting others make them for you?

If you're driven by the desire to find the answer to one of life's most perplexing questions, why would you fail to thoroughly examine any premise that directly challenges all that you've chosen to embrace as foundational to what you've so far determined concerning that specific question?

Love the thought process that I now have to endure as a result of this thread. Philosophy is what make life worth living IMO. I will now answer all of those questions.

1. 42
2 - 49. Pretty certain 42 answers these completely.
50. Definitely 42
