You Were Warned! Obama Adminstration Gathering personal Data on Sites Like ATS

so should I stop joining conspiracy sites? Is it safer to just browse content and not join? Now I am scared.

I see the Obama administration using extremely fast and efficient programs using bots to search the web using keywords of interest. It is basically a souped up mega-hyper threaded search engine that decrypts all web traffic and uses AD to organize objects for their instant retrieval on-demand. I am sure since the passing of the Patriot Act all kind of new toys via s/w are being implemented to snoop and spy.

ATS seems to pop-up most frequently and thus has caught the attention of the US Federal government.

And this is supposed to shock us? Hell they monitor everything you say on a telephone, watch on cable TV, why is it such a big stretch they would spy and disinform on sites like ATS.

Well for a start, those of you who seem scared are responding exactly how they want you to, most governments rule by fear and this is used to justify wars and social "reform". Also it is not the Obama administration that you should be focusing on, its the machine behind it. Everytime we refuel our cars, buy our groceries, pay our taxes and so on we fund the very organisations that put each candidate in the whitehouse. The problem is not with the individuals, it is with those that really weild the power. I mean seriously how did a man like George Bush ever get to "run" the USA? The answer is he never did and I am pretty sure no president has since Eisenhower. The machine loves it when the people blame the president, it takes all focus away from it. Nothing will change regardless of the "leader", we must adjust our own values and awareness. When was the last time you spoke to your neighbour? offered someone help out of compassion? We are as guilty as those who drive the train as we appear to be happy to just sit and enjoy the ride. I am not judging anyone here because I am as guilty as the rest.

(Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's command center routinely monitors dozens of popular websites, including Facebook, Twitter, Hulu, WikiLeaks and news and gossip sites including the Huffington Post and Drudge Report, according to a government document.

I'm finding articles all over the place today, which is a good thing.

Imagine the audacity of saying they have been doing it to -

"collect information used in providing situational awareness and establishing a common operating picture."

You would have to be in on it to approve of it.

From what I've read their list of monitored sites is five pages long.

We all knew it has been happening before the announcements I am not comfortable with the direction it seems to be headed for the internet to say the least

A couple of quick points:

1. There is no such thing as 'privacy' in the general populace anymore. Your computer tracks the websites you visit. Your credit card records the information about the bills you paid online and if you paid them late. Your grocery discount card records in a database what kind of shampoo and cat litter you just bought. Your smart phone with built in GPS tracks the time you went to the store, what roads you drove on to get there and how fast you were driving on the way there. Then there's cameras and cams set up at nearly every business, bank, corner store, and laundromat to record you on your trip.

2. Knowledge is power and this current administration knows it. I have no doubt in my mind that if this president and his administration know, or have access to, all of your personal information, no matter who you are or who you work for or what your social status is... if you're viewed as a threat, they will, I repeat, WILL have no hesitation in using that information against you.

The old adage is very true: Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I won't advocate any one politician or candidate over another as yet, though that will change as we get closer to our next election. But I urge everyone to look into those politicians running for office, as well as the ones currently in office, who strive for power and control and ask why? Why do they want this information about me or my neighbors? Do they want to know who does or doesn't own a firearm or who has been stockpiling food? Do they want to know who's anti-them by monitoring social media?

Information is useless unless it's used. The bigger question we really should be asking is this: How is this administration planning on using the information they gather? When you know the answer, you might be very, very concerned.

I posted the FREE SOPA Android App on a deal website called Slickdeals.net and received more stars and 'subscribe to this thread' responses in three hours than I did on any deal I posted in the past five years. People commented who had no idea what SOPA was. People were irrate to find out that they could be in trouble for their sarcastic comments, and critique of products and services.

You will NEVER censor me. Not without killing me...so pass all the laws you want. You won't control what I put in my mouth (water, food, pharmaceuticals, GMOs) and you sure the hell won't control what comes out of it.

Just stand up for what you believe. If the FBI knocks on my door, I will tell them what I think, and allow them to wait at the door while I call a very aggressive Constitutionalist attorney....and the ACLU for good measure. Doesn't hurt to know a few good former Washington journalists either. If they can intimidate you on this, they can intimidate you on anything. Americans need to decide on what they believe and then stand up (not down).

This is no secret at all really. It has always been quite obvious which ones were the disinformation agents. It was always the one who had an argument that went against a thread and the argument was absurd in it's denial of the topic. Hence, blatant government or blatant idiot. I personally can't differentiate between the two, as if there's really a difference. They are the ones who will discuss a thread and deny everything, leaving you scratching your head saying to yourself, ....it this guy/girl just blind or stupid. I have had discussions with them and I assure you...they are stupid. The only thing they can do on here is get IP numbers and fake names and people with aliases, not to mention those of us who bounce proxies. Let them read the forums and learn of our dissension, who's hiding anything...they aren't spying, they are observing and playing "cloak and dagger" amongst themselves like pre-adolescent, pimple faced teens. Oh, and this internet thing? They can take what they want, they aren't the only ones who can see the future and prepare for it. There are people preparing right now I bet to put into place another web to replace the one we may lose. Who will stick around anyway, for a government controlled internet? All they will do is segregate themselves from an intelligent populace and weed out the most cunning. Those who would stay on the same old outdated web as the government will deserve what they get. CONTROLLED!

The government has to be secret about everything see, because they live in the land of OZ where you don't need courage, a heart, or a brain. People need to realize now that our government has changed, it's not for the people and by the people anymore, it's a separate entity. It's overrun and corrupted by overpaid snobs that think they are untouchable and abuse their power once in office. They can do what they want with no oversight, we don't have a specialized committee protecting us from this. No one making sure they do their jobs and that they are honest. Many take oaths, but what good is a oath if it's not challenged?? We can't even have a honest vote anymore without someone manipulating the polls. Like the old saying goes. The government knows full well who all the users on this site are! They have the manpower and the computer power to gather this information. If the Mexican crime cartel can find someone from an ip address, don't you think the United States government can do this as well?
