What makes this discussion confusing is that less than a handful of Illuminati documents have been translated into English. The Illuminati grew tremendously between 1780 - 1784, so fast that no proper screening could take place. The Jesuits were a key player in discrediting them. I'm reading a lot of the German documents, but I have to revise my opinion of them with every new piece of information that comes in.

So I'm currently reserving judgment. Their Statutes are philanthropic enough, but many members were not squeamish about participating in anit-royalist revolutions throughout Europe.

There's a huge amount of the German-language material right out there on google books. That needs to be translated into English and made available to the public, as well. There are two translations of the "Statutes of the Illuminati" available, one from the French translation and one from the original German.

It would lead to the destruction and or assimilation of all said religions into one.

If you were to ask a mason, That idea (which seems scarily probable to outsiders) is laughably preposterous.

Globalization in today's world is almost inevitable. A one world order on the other hand is possible, but who knows how it would be structured. I'm going for a Bachelors in International Relations so this area I find very interesting.
