This explains why so many geigers including mine got high readings between April 29 and May 8th.

April 30th. Look along the east coast.

Yes Bob. Same area. I'm west of there but the guy in Ottawa would be just north of there.

Well where do I start? We seem to be waist high in this crap.
My latest test here in eastern Ontario, Canada. 18 X background. My highest so far.

St Louis in the US. 37 X background.

And from a friend testing in southern Brazil, 100 X background. We knew LaNinia had pulled the jet stream south but these are insane high numbers.
Just to let you know, he is nowhere near any mines or nuke plants.

So from Canada to Brazil at least. Probably pole to pole.

Aug 5th 11:00 am after a shower, eastern Ontario. Top pic shows high background, bottom 2 show my downspout reading yesterday. I'm 55 miles [90 KM's] east of Chalk R. nuke plant, the dude in Ottawa, with the vid is 145 miles [240 KM's] east of Chalk and got 5 X my reading. To me that points again that it ain't comin from chalk. I'm about 7 X background, the dude in Ottawa is about 30 X background.

The guy in Ottawa.

By the way these soek's geigers are calibrated to cesium 137 [Beta], [man-made]. I have no idea why people keep saying "It's only radon" [natural], [No Cesium in it] These wouldn't register radon as far as I know.
The guy in Brazil hit 100 X background. Do we have a new insane scientific ceiling for radon? Is their no limit to how high radon can go?
Yes an Inspector with a pancake would be nice but 900 clams is way past what most people can afford. I'd much rather see 100 folks get these into their hands. I've even seen a geiger that measures Alpha, Beta, and Gamma, but 8000 clams.....
Hopefully, shortly, we will be getting some folks up around the 60th parallel taking readings.

The best guesses we can come up with are a gamma burst or something to do with the wild fires in Oklahoma. These spikes are in the air, not rain. All we know for sure is they are not glitches.

Kingston Ontario left his geiger out in the rain yesterday, on the 4th. Spike to 5763 CPM.

This is a reading taken at a recreational camp for kids, in Minamisoma. (my friend's posting from her friend) The comments translated: 518.2microSv/hr.

And my rain from Sept 4th here in the Ottawa valley.
