Iran sentences US man to death for spying

www.abc.net.au

An American ex-Marine, who also holds Iranian citizenship, has been sentenced to death by an Iran judge after he was found guilty of spying for the CIA, the Fars news agency reports.

"Amir Mirza Hekmati was sentenced to death... for cooperating with the hostile country America and spying for the CIA," the Iranian Student's News Agency (ISNA) quoted judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei as saying.

"The court found him corrupt on the earth and mohareb [one who wages war on God].

This is bound to cause more tensions between Iran and the United States of America. Now this ex-Marine has supposedly admited that he has ties with the Central Intelligence Agency, thus the reasoning as to why he is on the death sentence.

"Hekmati, whose trial ended on January 2, was shown on Iranian state television in December saying he was a CIA operative sent to infiltrate the Iranian intelligence ministry."

Too lame justifying a war with an expendable spy which is half iranian. He's a "raghead" for most white americans.

Playing devils advocate here ( not that I believe most things the US Government does fo the benefit of its citizens) but the thing that makes me wonder is why if you your spying for another country would you admit to it on 'state' television?
Surely you'd deny it as even if you were then you'd know they wont come to your aid, they'd leave you to drop?
Is this guy hoping that the US marines will come and save one of their own?
IMHO he's toast, its not going to be an excuse for the US to attack, but then again there were reports about attacking over the spy drone, so I personally wouldn't put anything past the US government on their war for resources, erm I mean on terror.
