Billionaire gives $5 million to pro-Gingrich group

Sheldon Adelson: The Deep Pockets Behind Newt Gingrich

Casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson was the biggest funder of American Solutions, contributing $7.65 million and rumored to have committed $20 million to a pro-Gingrich super PAC, a report denied by an Adelson spokesperson. Whether the report is true or not, the facts increasingly show that the billionaire casino magnate is a central figure in Newt Gingrich’s political career.

In Israel, Adelson’s importance stems from his close friendship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his ownership of Israel HaYom, a free daily newspaper which supports Netanyahu’s Likud party. Back in the U.S., Adelson sits on the board of the Republican Jewish Coalition and is outspoken about his views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

During the George W. Bush presidency, Adelson opposed efforts to jump start peace talks between the Israelis and Palestinians and even took sides against the influential American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) when the organization supported peace talks.

Gingrich, who characterized Palestinians as “terrorists” during a December 10th GOP debate and told the Jewish Channel that Palestians are an “invented” people, would seem to be mirroring the hardline positions taken by his early, and cash flush, benefactor.

Sheldon Adelson to Birthright group: Gingrich is right to call Palestinians 'invented people'

American billionaire Sheldon Adelson, who is a close ally of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and owner of the Israeli daily Israel Hayom, said on Sunday that he agreed with Republican Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich’s controversial remarks that the Palestinians are an invented people. Gingrich’s "invented Palestinians" remarks to the Jewish Channel, a U.S. cable TV network, earlier this month were met with widespread criticism.

“When you return to your countries of origin, speak in support of Israel – don’t let Muslim student organizations take over the campuses.

Its depressing on two levels.

First, its sad fact that money generally dictates outcomes in elections.

Second, its disappointing that America will not be allowed to have a President or Congress which is permitted to place the interests of America above other nations, especially Israel.

What are people to do when BIG money interests, not only domestically, but internationally, run our country?

Sheldon Adelson obviously has a greater allegiance to Israel than America. Shouldnt it then be illegal to influence the outcome of our elections?

I hope this thread doesnt get locked. I'm sure the regular opponents of free speech will be here to make claims of antisemitism but I've said nothing offensive. I think this is a legitimate question and an issue that warrants discussion.

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.

Why is that ?

Then what is the role of mind and future humanistic program to help the ones who can not help a president to win ?
