To say it is over 30 years old it seems to be speaking more of what is happening in the present

No, I think it just shows that paranoid people have been around for 30+ years.

We've been on the brink of nuclear war, armageddon, and oppression for 50 years. Every year is "the year".

2012 will come and go just as always, with at least 1 world war scare, a couple end of days scares, at least 5 anti-Christ spottings, thousands of UFOs abducting people, a dozen meteors / spaceships / comets / planets heading right for Earth, and the electing of a new President that will prove to be the same as the last 30 before him.

I guess your right but there is also many other ones that do so.
I have not got examples at the moment
But I must admit when we talk about realism ...Immortal Technique and Diabolic seem to get it

Ah yea!......... Pink Floyd deep, sometimes dark & moody. Always well done.

Fun Boy 3 was straight up pop and was making a pop statement based on UKs teen angst at the time.

PS The Wall came out when I was 19 y/o and affected me profoundly.
