With the passing of the NDAA and the indefinite detention bill, which now allows for the indefinite detention of military prisoners in the US, and codified into law. My prediction is before the elections take place, Obama will announce Guantanamo Bay to be closed or closing, as he promised in his 2008 campaign.

Since now the prisoners held in Cuba can be lawfully detained in the U.S.

your prediction is dead wrong. My husband retired this year from military housing re-furnishing or rebuilding new and existing living quarters, june2010 he was offered a project manager job at none other Guantanamo Bay 170 new barricks, a commissary, chow halls, and yes more cells for the terrorist, this job started in January 2011 and is 3-4 year job. He turned it down because they can't leave Guantanamo except to fly back to the states once every nine months and I could not go.

So he compromises on something the republicans really want -- uses that to get something that looks good for him. And there you go - that's some good politiiking there Vern.

Speaking to reporters at the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium on Tuesday, Attorney General Eric Holder made a striking pledge to put a new -- and what critics call -- an unrealistic time frame on shuttering the Guantanamo detention camps.

We have an election that is coming up in 2012, in November of 2012. We will be pressing for the closure of the facility between now and then, and after that election, we will try to close it as well,” Holder insisted
