If I Die: Facebook App Lets You Leave Sweet Last Words

mashable .com

Facebook profiles don’t die the same way people do. If I Die is a Facebook app that makes sure, even if you die, your social self can still send out your last wishes and post messages to your friends years after you’re gone.

If I Die lets “you” post a final message to your wall and loved one when you’re dead. After installing the app, you choose three “trustees” (Facebook friends) who are charged with verifying your death.

Now this is kinda sick, but i can see the relevance of all this, one would like to cross reference those who have moved on and those who are still alive... you may ask why ? , well i have no idea but the idea seems kinda odd but hen again, we are living in odd times.

I think it's a cool idea...

IF you pass away and people look at your FACEBOOK, you don't want you to be remember by your last silly update... OR if it's something subliminal people will think it's related to your death.

Cannot help but wonder when the first suicide message will be delivered as another individual is egged on over Skype to top themselves, be even creepier with audio which will no doubt be supported at some stage. Depraved in my opinion but I wouldn't judge anyone for using it.

Years ago I read about a similar thing, but a separate website.

You could leave your message, but nobody could see it, as long as you kept on logging in every so often.
Once a user-selected time had passed without you logging in, the message is revealed.

I was wondering when they would come out with an app for dying

Secondly that is presuming face book will be around for another 40 years as I am sure there will be a new rage with the future grand children.

Dear Greedy Relatives:

Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust. You get NOTHING and I'm laughing so hard I'm likely to bust
See ya when you get where I am!

Yeah, I can see a real use for that, indeed.... (evil grin)

i cannot help with an ` app ` - i is rubbish at programing - but i can engineer a 5v triggered suicide device - which can obviously be triggered by USB

one could abdicate the descision - and allow the like / dislike vote to decide ones fate - true social suicide

(carefully steps away....very slowly) Umm... Remind me never to upset you or otherwise get on your bad side. I think I'd forever be checking and suspiciously eyeing my computer cables and devices.
lo....

This is kind of interesting, but I want my Facebook deleted when I die. I'm not sure I want my wall or timeline or whatever it's called now to be a memorial for years.
