I don't watch TV, but many do. Aside from what I think of most of the media and how I always wanted better shows, I am failing to understand how anyone is OK with the idea of a Government dictating what you can create, make or watch within some guidelines.

I don't stand under anyone and have already spent years very critical of the control and crapola shows, that lacked female writers, sensitivity and intelligence, and wanted them to be our creations, ie. our students, our college kids creating shows and good things that I might enjoy watching Not the elite.

So uh, no. I hope every citizen of this planet stops supporting any form of Big Daddy and starts to gain freedom and empowerment.

The words that were evil began with "the government decided". I don't hire pens or mouths, just ears.

The point is, that it used to be "THE PEOPLE DECIDED" we the people were the government!
You say withing bounderies...there are no more bounderies and the people speak out and yet what we want as a majority is ignored.

As far as effects, I think women in particular are continued to be shown as half wits who can only think of when the next lip gloss is released and how large silicon breast implants can help sell Carl's Jr burgers.

If you want something good for a society as a whole, starting with a small tribe, a town, a state, a nation there has to be guide lines that help you reach a better goal and a happier healthier humanity.

We will never reach there if people consider all jointly determined guide lines outside of money making and big business (they are free to manipulate as they please) censorship!

I wish this would happen in the States, Jersey Shore, House Wives, Dancing with the stars. Seriously now that is some garbage. If only we could be so lucky

Do you realise that entertainment media is full of satanic subversion, symbology and jewish controlled hollywood propaganda meant to destroy society and the family system?

Do you realize that remote controllers contain "off" and "change the channel" buttons? Censorship is more dangerous for society than any entertainment program.

It depends a lot on what you are calling censorship. Looking at the history of nations of the world, I think value systems no longer being upheld is very dangerous and ruinous to society.

We are already being censored as to not receiving true news on TV or anything that the top 1 percent don't want us to see or know. What we do see is approved by them and it helps them sell garbage to us and the next generation will be much more heavily mind controlled to sell even more.

Within Reason? No, No, No....Nobody should have the right to tell you what you can watch period. The Ideal of Freedom can not last when you start picking what freedoms you want to control and do away with. Within Reason, pfft! It seems nowadays more and more people are getting cozy to the way the world is going now. Ok with telling people what they can and cant do. You should never take ones choice or freedoms away, it's their life to waste anyway they please, if ya don;t like it move on and let it go, cause it dosen't concern you.

Who are you or a bunch of elected suits to say what we can or cant do? Maybe not in other countries but in this one we elect them to listen to us, not let them rule us. Seemingly the majority has forgotten that here.

Do you think you are the one making the decisions now? You are not in control and are not free!

What you would call censorship put in place by the public is the freedom of choice we used to have and no longer do! Big business controls our nation, what we see and what we hear what we wear and what we feel now.

So, ops is suggesting we also should remove the entertainment industry in order to preserve our culture.

However, our culture is entangled with entertainment..it is our culture so to speak...so, remove our culture to keep our culture seems a bit silly.

China has suddenly slashed entertainment programming. It seems to be a big step to me, reducing this many shows all at once. I wonder what happend to make them make this decision now?

You didnt hear? The new season of Jersey Shore just started.

Actually, China did its pople a public service. Definitely dont want those poor factory workers thinking about Snooki all 16 hours of their work day.

Way to go China!

Oh, and incidently...to those whom scream out about the west and its saturation of the culture to the world, hopeing america falls and places like China and such get stronger...look at what your wishing for.

The only thing more annoying than American propaganda about the far east, is the reality of the far east.

This site never fails to amuse.

One day, going from "Omg no one has a right to tell me where I can dance! I can dance at the Washington monument if I want!!"

And then the next, "Oh.. sure, China is doing the right thing! Wish they would do it here!"

Such double standards and hypocrisy - the norm for this place.

Its easy
If it happens in America, its totalitarian evilness. Even the slightest hint that can be amplified into a explosion.
If it happens in China, Even if it is a total nuclear bomb to personal liberties, it is enlightening and wise and should be installed in America.

Aka, there are a lot of idiots on ATS.

i don't think they're idiots. i think it's an issue related to wishing the world would mirror their current view of morality. in islam, that view can range from rather western to the opposite of downright women hating, stone throwng, head chopping, old testament scariness. theoretically, marxism, communism, socialism and fascism are all currently aligned, as political forms, against capitalism. this is why ATS is rife with this kind of rhetoric. many have been raised up in thoroughly socialized forms of education, which has its good points but is really only feasible for a free people, if it doesn't get involved in making choices for people.

that's the phrase the chinese used to remove those tv shows.
they've banned video games like mmos. all religions must have state approved texts, which are
edited by the government to remove any thing it deems threatening to its power and you must
attend a state approved religious service in which everything said by the religious leader, is
edited. you can't have a bible study or cast a circle or pray to allah in the privacy of your home.
in other words, they are COMPLETELY OUT OF FREAKIN' CONTROL. power mad! off the deep
end. darth vaders on steroids

China cuts two-thirds of popular television shows

www.telegraph.co.uk

An order to curb "excessive entertainment" on television came into force on Jan 1. In response, the number of scheduled entertainment programmes has dipped sharply from 126 a week to just 38...

...Xinhua added that "vulgar" and "low taste" broadcasting was being removed from the schedules, in the latest example of government interference in China's private sector.

To be honest, I think this is great for China. The West needs to follow suit really. The amount of mindless, low-brow c&*p on TV these days is pretty shocking. It's getting to the point where it's very, very difficult to find anything on TV that's even worth watching. And many of us are paying $100 a month or more for the dubious privilege. If you want to know why our countries are going to hell in a handbasket - and why people seem so mindless these days - just switch on the idiot box...

But at least they are sensible enough to get rid of all that cra&py Reality TV programming!

I have no admiration for the Chinese Communist Gov. at all - but on this one, I applaud them.
