ATS should BAN avatars that show members with a gun (we are NOT facebook here)

As long as it is legal is all I care about.
If it is in bad taste or immoral or If someone's feelings are hurt, I do not care.
If these images are too powerful and hurt you please do not put yourself through looking at them.
I use 2 fully automatic Doggies for my avatar.
Yes btw, they are loaded and the safeties are off one is not cocked though.
I do not pose with a gun as I hate to give the ABC goups a photo inventory of anything I may or may not have.
But rest assured, if I pose with anything weaponish or just dangerous I most probably will not flip out and use it carelessly.
Well, unless it is a quadruple bacon cheeseburger, then all bets are off.
But if I do you have my full permission to exclaim, "I knew it"!!

I'll give you a flag because yeah, I find it hilarious that a lot of members here are anti-war, anti-violence etc but don't mind seeing guns and such in avatars.

I don't mind them myself and have always wanted to own a replica or one that has been decommissioned so it won't hurt anyone should an accident happen but if we're honest, people holding guns in pictures that are posted online as an avatar or FB picture to me seems pretty much a redneck kinda thing to do regardless of which country you're from.

I am anti-war...and PRO-SELF PROTECTION. Guns are not for going on killing sprees or warring with Others. They are there for protection - from crazies, from criminals (including and ESPECIALLY the government).

So why would I mind seeing someOne prepared to defend Themselves?

And I think people with skulls used in their avatars are worshipers of satan.

Consider the facts: In 1995, the latest year Wiki has available, there were 233,000,000 guns in the US. There were 12,632 gun-related homicides in 2000. Compare the number of deaths to the number of guns, and the occasional whacko that takes out his mommy issues on his classmates is statistically insignificant. While it is extremely tragic, it is also extremely rare.

Also, I'm willing to bet that there are WAY more than 300,000,000 guns in the US by now. That survey from Wiki was taken 16 years ago and weapons manufacturers have been pumping out the steel night and day since then, not to mention the cheap foreign weapons like AKs and SKSs that have been imported. Since violent crimes have been on the decrease in recent years, it may be possible that more people arming themselves is having a positive effect.

Years ago, in the 80's I believe, there were two towns; one outside of Chicago and the other outside of Atlanta. The town in Illinois banned the ownership of handguns, while the town in Georgia REQUIRED every citizen to own a weapon. Care to take a guess as to what happened? Home invasions, burglaries, rapes, and murders skyrocketed in the Chicago suburb; outside of Atlanta crime dropped to nearly nothing. Scumbags knew what would be waiting for them inside the homes in both towns and acted accordingly. Nothing says "Keep the F*** outta my house at 4 in the morning" like an armed occupant.

While the news media and bleeding heart progressives would like you to think that gun violence is a problem, it really isn't; except among Mexican drug gangs, and you can hardly blame the average gun owner for that. Whether you realize it yet or not my young friend, it is the ordinary armed citizen that will be the last line of defense between you and a tyrant - or a run of the mill burglar - so be nice.

This is quite possibly the worst idea I've ever heard suggested on this website.

maybe ats could put a function to block or show avatars
like blocking chat on pokersites it just takes one mouse click

I'm Canadian and I think your suggestion is juvenile. You're point of view that everything and anything (no matter how minor) should be regulated to appease the minority is what many of us despise. I've never seen a thread with so many replies and so few flags

wonder why children of today are becoming killers in a very young age

um you can do that... if you go to the TOOLS+ and click on it, under ACCOUNT you will see the button you can click to hide avatars

i also dont have any problem with guns
it just depend how you pose with it
it can wrongly influence kids of today that pass their time in public forum
some kids will probably try to imitate the same "cool" pose
and accidently trigger it

a marines with his rifle or a hunter is completely different
dont get me wrong

how many time i see in the news young kid taking a gun from their parent
and kill their little brother and sister
just last week i saw another case .. extremelly sad when it happen and it enrage me
how many irresponsible people that owns guns .. way to much
lock your gun safely far from any young kids that would want to take a pose with it just for fun ...

people should have whatever they want as an avatar..
