The UK throwing it's weight ? With what ?

No aircraft carriers. Naval destroyers costing a billion pounds apiece ... each armed with one big gun. Helicopters which can't fly in the dark, the rain or the wind. Brand new fighter airplanes being chopped up as spares to fix others ... the list is endless.

Hands up who's scared of Britain. Oh, that'll be no-one then.

we brits like to speak very quietly but carry a rather large stick and while we cant put the numbers like the yanks we get the job done right and as they said in the 2nd world war :-
when the english shot the germans ducked
when the germans shot the english ducked
and when the americans shot everyone ducked

Wait I live in the uk, how come none of this is on BBC news yet, i can only find on American news sites? and as i said i dont know why no one has taken in to account Iran will only shut the Strait of Hormuz if the West applied sanctions on oil exports, i dont think we would place sanctions to risk war.

Oh yes, another war the tax payer is going to accumulate debt for so the likes of David Cameron and the rest of his Etonian school chums can make millions of pounds in weapons deals, sounds good to me!

Oh yes and Britian has 3 aircraft carriers, and currently constructing what are basicaly 2 Nimitz class aircraft carriers our country cannot afford, but by jingo it would be a damned bloody disservice to the nation not to spend all that tax payers debt on some shiny new sea bobbles!

Those destroyers you speak of are the most advanced "frigates" in the world, they are designed to combat air threats and are VERY good at what they do.

The UK has one...if not the worlds best trained military, our special forces units are frequently shipped out to administer training to their US counterparts and also the Israeli special forces.

However....another War we have no stake in is the LAST thing this country needs right now, we made that mistake with America which effectively ruined us.

What the MSM says is what the powers that be want. Disregard that and this is a war that is justified for once. Iran has a very poor human rights record, it has a dictatorship mascerading as a democracy and is developing nuclear weapons. Why wouldn't we want to wipe their government out?

The UK forces being the best is a fallacy, sure we have certain units that are good but the regular units are degrading and degrading fast due to the ludicriss human rights laws in the UK. Our regular soldiers are full of mummys boys these days to be fair, the RAF is full of fat bastards too. I'd hardly call them the best. I'd say the marines, Para's, SAS/SBS are the best at what they do though.

Yes i believe a war is coming, but i say why? when our tax payers money has just gone towards bombing Libya, why should we have more blood on our hands just to get rid of the Iranian government, This would just put our soldiers at risk and not to mension there are alot of innocent people in Libya. But i do agree that the Government has had alot of corruption and is wrong

Listen mate this is how it works in any countries military

Combat experience.

Our nation has been fighting one of the hardest wars in history in a place called Afghanistan for the last ten years, continualy rotating soliders in and out, and on top of experiance in Iraq we have one of the most hardened and experienced armies on the planet.

Very few, if any countries have anything like the UKs level of experiance in warfare.

That's why I focussed on the Special Forces
, I remember doing my 1.5 mile at Lichfield years back...things are different these days.

Our forces recruit from the hopeless and the bored....whereas in the past it was a honour to serve the country it's now a "last chance" for many.

I still have family serving in senior military positions, they are part of the old guard...proper gentry, they echo your sentiments completely.

What are they going to do ask the French to borrow some ships and trained men. The UK is in a sad place in its history the people bought into the progressive crap and look were they are now.

I used to really admire the British people but when they gave up all of there rights something changed for them. Now there country reminds me of France 2.0.

For a start I am not your mate and secondly I have recently served in those said forces for 10 years. What are your credentials to back up your opinion? I stand by what I say, the UK has excellent specialist units but their regulars are a shambles. I have already said they are experienced but at the same time they are mollycoddled and do not recieve the required training due to human rights laws in the UK.

I think you'll find most people define the Type 45 warship as a destroyer.

A billion pound warship, bobbing about the seas, armed with one gun. Oh, not content with blowing a billion pounds on one such ship, you ordered 12 then cancelled 6, leaving 6 white elephants for your fleet. I say fleet, your nation has more admirals and vice admirals than you have ships.

What a joke.

As to those who say Britain's soldiers are the best, well every nation says that of their own. It's just bluster. What British soldiers are probably best at is borrowing equipment from foreign colleagues because they lack equipment of their own.

Time to jettison your post imperial flummery. Just because you spend more, waste more doesn't mean you've got the best.

Really doing an awful lot better.
What is your debt to GDP as a country? When you gave up your rights to defend yourselves I lost all respect for your country and people.

Cameras on every corner government run media.......etc

Progressive mindset rules the country now. They are pushing this around the world using the UK as a model. The funniest part is 70 years ago you fought and won a ugly war against this very same thing. Hitler was a progressive.

Take what as I say as truth or not it really does not matter.

In this global world does it really matter? They will eventually do the same thing in my country. They are well on there way. Our media is less free with every day.

My country used to be strong also but war and loss of personal freedoms have made us weak also.
