While this might be my first post in the community, I've been a serial ATS addict for +- 18months, and already feel very much a part of the
community. For various reasons I've never joined the facebooger crowd, but have found an online home in the house that is ATS. Not that I take pride
in being a lurker, but to quote a quote (dunno whom):
In seeking wisdom,
the first step is silence
the second step is listening
the third step is remembering
the fourth is practicing <----------(New year's resolution)
the fifth is teaching others
So, a little about myself - My real name means "Bringer of Light". Born in the year of Orwell's distopian vision, into a post-colonial
quasi-fascist state at the southern end of THE third world continent, I could describe myself as one of the Indigo children to watch over the changes
in one of the most exciting times in human history. As a young child I've experienced the privilege to witness a society that changed overnight, and
against all odds, avoided the treat of civil war... The first time in history that a revolution happened peacefully.
Always an imaginative little bugger, I think I saw a UFO at age 12. Intrigued ever since. Especially because there has been a (relatively) famous
sighting in my town in the 70's. Thus my interest in Ufology was cultivated from a young age.
But if I had to put a date to the day I started waking, it had to be 9/11/01 (although in my country it looks better to write 11/09/2001 - more
logical innit). As we watched the planes smashing into the WTC at my hostel at school, our local newspaper had a front page story on our high school
headmaster (on the exact same day - crazy huh?). He had allegedly sexually harassed my english teacher (an iron lady, if ever there was one). He was
suspended, his name disgraced. Over the next year it emerged that he was actually framed by the school governing body, but the damage was done and he
has retired, and nobody took on the people behind this small scale smear campaign power struggle.
In my waking process, I had my proverbial morning coffee through my travels after school, meeting people from around the world and learning about the
fiction that was the "War on Terror", the monetary scam and the way propaganda works. I developed a sharp distaste for all forms of BS, television,
crowd mentality, TPTB, most forms of authority and cute kitten youtube vids.
Since my farther is "a man of God" and my whole extended family devout Christians, (Grandfather minister, father and 4 uncles ministers) I grew up
in the Christian church (the dutch-reformed flavour - related to presbytarianism). It has been an exceptionally difficult spiritual journey first
recognizing the failings of the church's teachings, moving through atheism to a new understanding of enlightened spirituality.
A big part of my identity resides in my profession - architecture. While I am finishing up with my Master's degree, in practice my firm is striving
to develop new concepts of development, new solutions to the housing crises our country experiences, and hopefully still make a living. Utopian
thought is probably my main driver.
With this background I arrived in the space/time revolution 2012. I hope to share my insights in due time and look forward to engaging with my new
friends. I would have loved to write the
I Love You thread for I share the same
sentiments.
Namaste
