Yeah, that's why I had to stop and think and toss out a few edits. "Hey...I also took this when I was 16..."

SHUT UP LOCOLOLO, I CAN HAVE BRAINFARTS TOO.

Zero started it, talking about the 8th grade, and I've been drinking. Leave me alone.

One of my high school friends was on the phone with a Marine recruiter and he told him that "there is no way he can join the Marines".

"Why not" the recruiter asked.

"Because my family would disown me if I became a jar head".

Some animosity there between the services. And, families tend to have a service they all tend to prefer.

My Gramps was a Navy SeaBee.

During WWII (before there were Seabees) they were building bases in the Pacific with the goal of reaching Japan. The civilian construction workers kept getting captured. Then the paychecks stop and family starves. So they starting recruiting experienced construction workers and giving them first or second class ratings in the SeaBees.

Link to my SeaBee page here Seabee Page

They were able to build bases with few resources. They invented a thing called the pontoon that made the D day invasion possible. They supported the Marines with hot food at the front and even digging foxholes for the wounded. They went ashore alongside the Marines, sometimes before or shortly after. They filled the bomb craters in runways as fast as the japs could bomb them. They constructed new runways in record time using natural materials and steel “marston mat”.

Lol, I have my uncle threatening to kill me if I don't do the airforce. The rest of my family says army or marines. I say Army but though the job i want is "an insult" to my intelligence, no idea how to be honest, I think it would be nice job. I may change around thoughi n the future of course.

dont ever think that a job, or a skill you don't possess yet is an insult to your intelligence. you can take that with you, and advance quickly in that field, or change MOS, and take that skill with you. you never know, if you cross train into something else, while having a good grasp on the job your getting out of, you can always augment other units with your previous MOS if needed. The more skills you have under your belt, the more resourceful you will become to yourself, and your unit..

...And he got a 92!!!!!
Hey, just felt like saying what i got on my asvab. I'm in happy happy moooood!!! I just curious for all the military vets on site, did i do good
.

asvab is at the 8th grade level, i'm not slandering it but i was in the army for 6 years and i remember when i took it myself and got a 98, doesn't make him a genius, just means he's smarter than an 8th grader.

Not true. That's very misleading. The ASVAB is a percentile score, not an absolute score. A 92 means he scored higher than 92% of the people who took the test. That includes everyone who takes the test, including not only high school graduates, but college graduates. The score does not equate to a grade level at all.

Now have your son take the DLAB: Defense Language Aptitude Battery. hat opens up even more opportunities.

thats funny because when i took it , it specifically said on the paper that the questions are based off of 8th grade standardized curriculum :/

i didnt know what the ASVAB test was so i looked it up and found a few example or practice tests.

are they recruiting 5 yr olds?
no offense to the op and i'm certainly not a brainbox but i get the impression the test is just to weed out retarded people.

In friend's defense, he wishes to do intelligence, but says with my "intelligence" i should do something of that level. But I prefer the simple nice engineering.
