Years back I was a big fan of the "wipeout"games on playstaion1.
You know the one, with anti grav ships racing round insane speedy tracks:

Well, check out this great real world version, using superconductors cooled by liquid nitrogen, which run on(or above really)electromagnetic tracks:

Good job folks at the Japan institute for science and technology!!
I have seen mini trains demonstrating the same principle at a science fair, but this takes it to another level IMO.
I say they upscale this and turn it into a new sport!

Cool or what?

I expect they could up the speed by uping the current/pulse rate of the tracks.Did you see at the start,he used a controller to make the craft go backwards the forwards?Pretty cool.
BUT-I doubt they would be allowed to be used in a city with all that nitrogen pouring out the tail.
Very dangerous.

I hear you,and have changed the thread title.
Would be great if they could find way around the dumping of nitrogen from the exhausts.
Afterburner weapons??
Or a recycling system which captures the gas for reuse maybe?
Hmm.

It is.

I saw this the other day over @
Hack a Day. I'm really sorry to divulge this: the video is a fake. I was so hoping it was real myself...

BUT...Here's the aging 20th century technology in action...and, this video is real. Albeit, definitely not as cool (pun intended ) as the bogus Wipeout video!
