I wouldn't say that. At one point Cain was considered unelectable and then shot to the front of the pack. The same goes with Gingrich. I personally thought he had dropped out for a while since we weren't hearing anything about him. Then all of a sudden he was the front runner for a few weeks. Santorum just happened to resonate with the Christian Right and they gave him the surge he needed in Iowa.

It's a good thing Santorum has no legs, once this little bump the media gave him is past, AND he took out Romney. Paul's RESPECTABLY close, and has the fundraising and organization - plus the only zealous and actual supporters out there.

Remember, Mccain finished a much-more distance fourth, under much worse circumstances.

NO LONG FACES! If anyone remembers '08, we are sitting MUCH better off, with a much more conducive environment, many more awake people, and a very likely chance of worsening economy - Paul's forte and the thing ONLY he was right on.

Not bad, not bad at all. A few thousand votes out of how many? Come on...

AND - let's remember - this is coming off a BRUTAL attack run by the media and other candidates. Keep it real and remember, even if worse comes to worst, this isn't about Paul, it's about the message, and the responsibility is on US. Not one man.

And otherwise...these other people get what they deserve, failing that. If they want more of the same...God help them.

Maybe the World is just not ready. Give it another 2 terms and if we are all still here, the World should be ready.

The New York Times is actually looking at who Obama can beat in the election and trying to sway voters that way. The NYT will do anything to ensure an Obama victory.

Well, let's see....Huckabee won Iowa in 2008 with 34% and McCain finished in a tie for third at 13% with Fred Thompson.

Iowa is just the first step and isn't going to determine the nominee.

The media knows they can destroy Santorum on a whim, their job is to get Romney as eligible to the GOP electorate.

Just ask Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, JP Morgan, etc...

Im not sure how well the rest of the race will go for Romney if he cant get above his 25% he got back in 2008. If he cant get above that this time, it dosent look like his support has gone anywhere.

Remember, McCain came in 4th with only about 13% of the Iowa vote, and he became the nominee.

Somber mood at Perry event. Candidate stuck in 5th place.

I found it cute that the media is already singing Paul's swan song. Speculating about where his support will go.

News Flash. Santorum is an unsavory, unvetted candidate. He will inevitably fall.

Romney still has little support, despite deep pockets and a rubber stamp from the establishment.

This is going to keep going folks. Lot of twists and turns to come.

You sir....are inspiration. Like I said earlier, we can't let Iowa demoralize us. While it would be nice to have won, there's always a chance because some things are just worth fighting for.

As stated therein, remember that the Caucus does not award any delegates. It is primarily a poll of intent. It may or may not have any major bearing on the actual nomination. It's possible that it could be an indicator of electability, but it's also possible that the results of the Caucuses will be drowned by other factors when it comes time to actually award delegates.

Just a reality check about the potential importance or lack thereof of this event.

A Santorum victory here I would mind much.. do not want to see Romney win this state. All very close. Paul is doing much better than 08.. still a long way to go in this process. It looks like Paul will take 3rd.. top 2 very close.
