Why can't I select Adelaide/Darwin time?

Well, the title pretty much sums it up.

I try to select Adelaide time, but it jumps back to Sydney/Melbourne time?

Why is that? Can I fix it?

I have the same problem except that my zones are in differnt countries! I live in Dubai but my time zone shows K-K-K-K-K-K-Kathmandu...

I was told by a mod that the correct time will show on the forum, just not in your User CP (if that makes any sense)...
