Since the first Americans marched off to fight the British for independence, soldiers have been chronicling US wars with paintings and drawings that show the conflicts from the perspective of the troops on the ground.

Where can I sign up for a world that pays it military to go around the world and paint? No please, these are just too good. I believe WW1 saw the rise of the war poets, For Whom The Bell Tolls and Dulce et Decorum (Wilfred Owen) are just mind-blowing in their realism. Now the painters take up their swords to tell us all what it really is like. Thanks for posting!
ETA Paint, draw, charcoal, watercolour or whatever. I ain't no painter!
