Scarlett Johansson's Alleged Nude Pic Leaker Faces 121 Years

www.eonline.com

A Los Angeles grand jury indicted Chaney yesterday, with the breakdown of his wrongdoings as follows: nine counts of computer hacking, for illegally gaining access and causing damage to email systems operated by Apple and Yahoo; eight counts of aggravated identity theft for using email identities in furtherance of his computer hacking; and finally nine counts of illegal wiretapping for intercepting the private email communications of his victims (wiretapping—it's not just for phones anymore).

I normally don't give a crap about celebrities lives, but this one really got to me. What the guy did was wrong, no doubt about it... but to face up to 121 years for this crime is absolutely insane. Convicted murderers rarely face this much time in prison.

121 years for doing what the US government does on a daily basis.

Now I doubt he will get the full 121 years, but even if he pleas out, what will they settle on? 10? 20? 50? His whole life gone because he hacked a few emails and posted a celebrities nude pictures online.

Don't take a picture you wouldn't want online...

....or how about pedophiles and child molestors who may get 5 or so and serve much less...released back to the public....

yes the criminal justice system needs a complete overhaul....as one who has majored in it....im pretty passionate about the changes needed

with that said....people are idiots for taking these kind of pictures and sending them via various means of technology.....if you dont want your goods out there....then keep them under your clothing in the privacy of your home....

Forget the fact it happened to a celebrity for a moment. If it were your sister or your daughter, would you still sympathize with the hacker then?

Probably would have gotten less years if he raped someone. This is messed up, extremely messed up in fact.

This actually angers me.

i dont sympathize with people who chose to break the law.

however, i truly believe in sentence reform...punishment reform, and alternative punishments. right now, our criminal legal system in regards to sentencing, punishment, lack of rehabiliation, education and so on....is a big huge pile of......well, a mess....

122 does not fit THIS crime. maybe if he was hacking and sending around child porn id be a little harsher.

Not really but that many years is ridiculous. My friend passed on loads of naked pictures of his ex-gf to his friends but he wouldn't/won't get 100+ years for that.

Yes! I absolutely would!

Nobody should spend the rest of their life behind bars for something like this. This wasn't a violent crime at all.

Just asked my girlfriend how she would feel about the person getting 121 years if they were nude pictures of her. She thinks it would be ridiculous as well.

If my sister or daughter were taking naked pictures of themselves, I would say they got what they deserved. I sure as *^&$ wouldn't condone a century long sentence for something like this...

On the bright side the guy will be in a safe spot for Satan's upcoming 100 year reign

Basically I could attend his trial, download a couple of MP3z and movies, sell his entire family crack before scamming their entire fortune away and...

I might get 3-5 years is the judge is in a bad mood.

Justice is blind.

Look at his list of offences. It's not just for leaking a nude photograph.

difference... your freind had them because his ex gave it to him... the accused on the other hand hacked her e-mail accounts to get them.

But for my 0.02 cents... the sentence is insane... 110+ years? Yea... the justice system needs to be re-done.

Oh give me a break.

They are just nude pictures...we come this way naturally.

What kind of crazy world is this we are in? Did we have some kind of dimensional shift at about the turn of the century? Feels that way when I read the news, then it gets worse when I read a comment like I quoted.

This is not an offense that deserves imprisoning a human being, let alone an insane 121 years!

If my sister was over 18 and sending nude photos of herself, and someone was able to get hold of them and posted them online, and my sister was suing this person for more then a hundred years, I would sympathise with the hacker, and I would think that it is mostly my sisters fault anyway. Don't make the pictures available if you don't want them available to everyone...

Meanwhile, people like this don't even serve 1 day in jail :
www.usatoday.com...

The system is screwed up and doesnt serve justice, it serves private interests.

you are right. i admit, i actually knew about this....but did not know the details....

one-man hacking mastermind who's terrorized Hollywood starlets for the past year. And, no doubt, so think the slew of celebrities, like Scarlett Johansson, Vanessa Hudgens, Jessica Alba, Mila Kunis, Christina Aguilera and Miley Cyrus, who have been victimized by him.

Luckily for them, it sure sounds like the man brought down by the FBI's Operation Hackerazzi and charged with a whopping 26 counts

seemingly single-handed role in hacking into the email accounts of dozens of people, most of them celebrities

nine counts of computer hacking, for illegally gaining access and causing damage to email systems operated by Apple and Yahoo; eight counts of aggravated identity theft for using email identities in furtherance of his computer hacking; and finally nine counts of illegal wiretapping for intercepting the private email communications of his victims (wiretapping—it's not just for phones anymore).

Show me one thing on that list of charges that would justify 121 years behind bars. I agree identity theft and wiretapping are very serious charges, but he is currently facing more than 6 times the sentence the average murderer gets.

This is absolutely a case where the punishment does not fit the crime.. He will never serve the full 121 years in prison, but that is beside the point.

More and more we're seeing crimes dealing with "information" leading to extreme punishment while violent criminals get much less.. Look at the Conrad Murray case.. ( your opinion on it is irrelevant, I'm merely looking at sentencing ) .. he gets a fairly short sentence and house arrest in a case that resulted in someone's DEATH .. but this guy leaks nudes of a celebrity and gets what is essentially a life sentence.

Next paparazzi will get life sentences for snapping upskirt photos as celebs get out of the car.. then perhaps we can start arresting the celebrities for not wearing underwear.

if this thing is true, it is just confirming the theory that the legal system is designed to defend elites against everyone else.
