MIDLAND, Tx. -

An official in Texas says a man has been detained after entering an airport in Midland with military-grade
explosives.

City of Midland spokeswoman Tasa Watts said Saturday she had no information on the suspect, who was taken into custody by the FBI. An FBI spokesman did not immediately return a phone call from The Associated Press.

I seen some additional information pop up on this guy. TREY SCOTT ATWATER. So I thought I would share it. Seems this guy is a Green Beret who was caught with explosives at the Texas airport.

The Permian Basin Welcome Home Committee is rounding up people to greet Staff Sgt. Trey Atwater of the U.S. Army.

Atwater is scheduled to return to Midland at 4:24 p.m. Friday at the Midland International Airport.

He is the son of Bonnie Awater of Midland and is a 1999 graduate of Midland Lee High School. His wife, Tamra, and his two sons, Trent and Ty, will accompany Atwater.

Atwater is a Green Beret and is scheduled for a third tour of duty in Afghanistan in July.

So why is a Green Beret sneeking around with explosives on New Years? And why is his military background disappearing? And seems nothing is really showing up on the news.

This article from military times list Atwater Trey Scott as getting the promotion to staff sergeant.

So this guy is military.

Something is off, this should be front page on all the majors.

Green Beret's are the smartest of the bunch, it's not a mistake an E-6 would make.

Methinks he does not want to go back to Afghanistan.

Only a person who has seen what he has seen will understand. If only all our special forces would realize who they are really serving. TPTB could not hide from a squad of SEALs. And no police force would try to take on a squad of them held up somewhere. Wishful thinking :3

Are they not building Mosques in Texas, in one story I heard they wanted to build one and told the farmers to move their pigs away from it because it is an offence to have them near Mosques. Don't worry they won't say anything about your country once its built.

But is this connected to Islamic terrorism, I do not know for sure but if it was I would not be surprised.

Soldier detained after 'trying to take military explosives on plane'

A soldier has been detained by the FBI after he was found to be carrying explosives onto an airplane.

The man, who has not been identified, was travelling with his wife and children through Midland International Airport, Texas.
At the security checkpoint, officers spotted a suspicious item in a carry-on bag during X-ray screening.

Authorities said the man was bound for a base in North Carolina, where he is on active military duty.

He was visiting his mother who lives in Midland.

So it takes a UK paper to tell us it was a US soldier. And he was trveling with his wife and kids.

Seems the guy is trying to sell his house. Maybe he wanted to blow it up because he can't find a buyer?

I read this earlier today,and hoped it would be on ATS.
My take on it is this:
A green beret has been used/hired to probe security holes in airports,maybe a few of them.
He gets busted in Texas.
The reason it gets wiped from the media is it was an exercise.

Hopefully nothing more.

Well he isn't only getting wiped from normal media. He is getting wiped from military/army times promotion list. I see that his name was on the list and then somehow it had been deleted from the digital copy. I feel the list are ligit because a soldier that I served with had been on the same E-6 promotion eligibility list. I did however find his name and MOS on a E-7 promotion list from mid 2011. He is listed as a 18C3 which is the Special Forces Engineer Specialist. So he did specialize in explosives. Previous promotions labled him as 11B which is infantry. Here is the link to his E-7 promotion list. If his name gets deleted from this then I would really question what is going on.

It makes you wonder if he's trying to get out of more murder service in Afghanistan by getting caught with explosives at the airport. I don't know how sane or insane that explination is but it poped in my mind.

Seems he was stationed at two places. First he was at Fort Benning and then moved to Fort Bragg where he is at now. Fort Bragg is where Airborne and Special Operations Forces are.

You're going to plant some military grade C-4 in his bag while it's being loaded into the plane.....to make your problem go away.


I've got $50 Atwater was detected as "going rogue". He'll lose his home, family, and spend a stint in prison before you hear about his "suicide". Green Beret's were trained to think they can take on the world and GOD himself......when their own country turns on them.....they realize how tiny they are and powerless.

I know a Green Beret who was in Cambodia in Vietnam, he turned against his Government, when his Government turned on him. He's got frekin radio jammers, RPG's, mines, and a tunnel system across his property that would make any Asian military man proud.

Could be that Atwater didn't like the National Defense Bill where America's military is locking up Americans without a trial......we'll never know.

Poor Green Beret....

It is easy for military personnel to write off explosives as used and to keep them for personal use later. That is probably what happened here, only he got caught.
