The average RP supporter is a tech geek and therefore, more likely to show support online. Duhhhh
The average BO supporter is younger and on gov't handouts... votes bought and paid for. Duhhhh
The average conservative is older, lest tech savvy, Hard working and not as interested in the internet, hence, lower results...

All this proves is that RP and BO have the tech vote but the silent majority wont really make its true presence known until November 02, 2012. IMHO

VERY interesting idea there!
S&F for your creativity and or curiosity.
I guess if you need to know who is more popular, the worlds most used search engine is a good way to see what is trending.
Of course some of these hits may be bad presss, but popularity is popularity.

Agreed, but the same can be said for every other name on the list too. And keep in mind, this search is not limited to just the msm. This is the entire internets.

This thread deserves a serious bump.
Over one BILLION for Ron Paul...not quite eight million for "the front runner" Mitt Romney.
Incredible. Are we (ATSers) the only ones who know this?

I am not trying to shoot you down in flames, I did this search to honestly see what turned up.

I dont trust Ron Paul:
Search
About 107,000,000 results (0.13 seconds)

I dont trust Barack Obama:

Search
About 34,800 results (0.16 seconds)

edit on 1-1-2012 by openminded2011 because: (no reason given)

I don't really believe this is accurate, so I am wondering how good of a gauge this is for popularity.

You probably just wrote the number down wrong or used some other search engine, because I just did a google search this minute and I came up with this number. 1,170,000,000, thats as in billions.

I have searched for "Ron Paul" hundreds of times on google the past couple months...zero for Obama...and yet I support Obama and think Ron Paul is crazy.

You can't make a judgement based on numbers...everyone is looking into Paul because he is a contender in Iowa...doesn't mean everyone who looks him up is a supporter.

That logic is very very poor.

re-read his post...he searched for "I don't trust Ron Paul" and came up with those numbers..."I don't trust Obama" came up with a much smaller number.

He is just saying your numbers mean nothing without context.

Just consider Newt for a minute. He was leading the field for a while. Then he got a lot of well deserved bad press. That didn't make his google hits go up and, or much.
