Forever? I don't know about forever, but if you tell my wife something it will be stored for a lifetime and you will relive it over and over and over. Just marry a woman with a photographic memory and one that has instant recall concerning everything she hears. Then before she dies, find another one of those demons from hell, er, I mean nice pretty women and pass it all on. Ad infinitum. Problem solved. THIS is why mitochondrian DNA exists and why older cultures were matrilineal. Im convinced.

I agree with the stone idea. Just record things better than who begat who and how much wheat was sold that day was. For all of the work put into chiseling stone they definitely recorded some idiotic things for future generations to spend so much time trying to translate.
