The History of Sandwiches - What Is Your Favorite?

hmmm, i actually have a few

pref in a baguette rather than 2 slices of bread

Tuna mixed with balsamic vinegar

rump steak (rare), fried red onion & french mustard

Good quality, thick pork sausages with brown sauce (pref HP)

Bacon, Brie and cranberry


I could go on forever, sandwiches are the king of foods...and the bigger the better!

Personally I usually leave out a common ingredient....Bread is lead, as my wife says.

A slice of deli smoked ham dab of mayo
lettuce
cheese of choice...mine is Colby Jack

roll into cylinder & toothpick to keep shape

micro-wave for 6 sec...any longer and the first bite will leave a big red spot on your bare leg when the damn cheese squirts out.

For people who are not bread eaters...or want to cut back on their bread intake...this recipe is a very good alternative. Sometimes...I just don't want the bread.

Toasted White Bread
Italian Seasoning
Ham
Swiss Cheese
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Onions
Jalepenos (if you like it hot cuz i like it HOT )
Salt and Pepper

Basic sandwich with a lil kick, fell in love at the first bite

the ruben is also my favorite but i like thin garlic pickle slices on it and butter dont know how to make it i just order it first time i ever had it i was on a flight to nyc in first class great flight and great sandwich now i gotta eat thanks lol

One of my favorites is a Western New York tradition. Roast beef on Kimmelwyck.

Kimmelwyck roll very fresh

Au jus beef gravy-just enough to flavor the roll

Large pile of tender juicy roast beast sliced thin

Season to taste with horseradish

It is very similar. Special roll, kimmelwyck I have been told is german in origin. It's sort of like a kaiser roll but it has large salt crystals and rye seed on top. The Western New York area has many very ethnic foods and traditions.

It seems that when many ethnic groups came to America they left New York City and didn't get much farther than the Buffalo area. Poles, Germans, Irish, English, French, almost any group you can think of.

Needless to say, with our winters and the many ethnic heritages here, we all eat pretty good, all kinds of good food. And of course chicken wings originated here at a place called the Anchor bar on main street. I have had wings all over the country, but none as good as here.

If you ever get the opportunity to come to this area you will be amazed at all the different foods avalible here.

I have wanted to travel back east...for a long time....but I have not made it as yet. Maybe someday! I am going to look for a bakery here in Seattle that carries the Kimmelwyck roll.

I love my egg/omelette sandwiches in the morning. I always have a bagel, toast or some kind of bread whether it's store bought or I've made it. They omelette is usually one with veggies, salsa, cheese and ham/or bacon. I then put that on the bagel or toast and top it with diced tomatoes and some sour cream That is my morning sandwich!

Now my all time favorite sandwich is:

Rye bread or Pumpernickel Rye lightly toasted
Grey Poupon
Romaine lettuce
Sliced tomato
pepper jack cheese
roast beef
smoked turkey.

OMG I love that. Ok I need to add roast beef and turkey to my list today!




I also enjoy tuna fish on english muffin...YUMMY!

Explanation Recently OL has been making and eating sliced brown onion, slices of tasty cheese and tinned tuna plus horseradish cream sammiches on white bread with olive oil base spread!

Very yummy and spicy hot [like hot english mustard]

Personal Disclosure: I might try a Toasted version and I will post how that goes if I get around to it!

The Cheese savoury on wholemeal bread!

grated cheddar cheese
grated red leicester cheese
grated mozzarella cheese
mayonnaise
spring onion , finely diced
salt & pepper
Tiny bit of mustard
snip of cress.
Finely chopped boiled egg

The horseradish is a new twist (for me) in a tuna sandwich...next time I make a tuna I will add some...a little more spice in life never hurts!...lol

I am a cheese addict...if I don't watch myself I can eat too much of it...in one sitting. Your sandwich sounds so good...I think I just may have to have one today!
