New Year Honours: London list includes ex-gang member

A former gang member related to a schoolboy's killers is among the London figures listed in the New Year Honours.

Chris Preddie, 24, is appointed OBE for his youth work, having abandoned drug-dealing and turned his life around after his brother was shot dead.

He said he "never knew" his cousins Danny and Ricky, who stabbed Damilola Taylor in Peckham, south London.

This is rather unusual. The Queen`s awards at the end of the year are for several groups of people i.e. leaders of industry, celebrities and ordinary folk who are often unsung heroes.

A Queen`s award has been given this year - for not drug-dealing?

I am afraid the leaders of the UK are going a bit batty in order to have multiculture accepted.
