Verizon set to tax customers Jan 15th 2012

money.cnn.com
Verizon said Friday that it was scrapping a controversial $2 fee for one-time bill payments announced just a day earlier. The announcement had immediately sparked an uproar online from customers irate about the prospect of incurring further fees simply by paying existing ones.

Earlier Friday, the Federal Communications Commission said it was "concerned about Verizon's actions" regarding the proposed new fee and was "looking into the matter."

Eerily similar to Bank of America plan to charge new debit card fees. What are your thoughts Verizon subscribers? My guess is that this is not going to be a 1 time fee.

The CEO says that they are scrapping the proposed bill yet nothing has been confirmed and as far as we're concerned it is still set to happen. FCC is investigating so be on the look out.

Your article says that Verizon abandoned plans for the fee. There is nothing new for Verizon subscribers to pay.

Yes consumers, Verizon will never raise rates or attempt to screw you! This was all a big misunderstanding and in fact, they are just going to start giving away free money tomorrow too!

Dear aching_knuckles,

I'm confused by your comment. Are you saying that Verizon will impose the fee on the 15th? Or at some time in the future they will raise rates? Or perhaps you mean something else.

With respect,

It has since been confirmed. This is one fee that they will not charge.

Never fear though. If you have Verizon like I do ( I have a bundle package. TV, phone and internet) they have plenty of other fees that have been in place for a long time. Adds quite a bit to my bill.
