I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the US won the war, due to the unconditional surrender by the Japanese at the end.
What I have found by googling is that the Japanese suffered 2,120,000 military deaths in WWII vs 416,800 for the US(including the European theater).

So, not really even close.

I guess the means justifies the cause, do you agree as there are more than just bloggers eager to read this.
I just wanted to keep the revision of history to a minimum.
War sucks, but it is part of being human. If a country wants to avoid war, just about all they can do is let the other country or countries come on in and butcher the population, if that's what the other country wants to do. War will cease to exist when humans cease to exist.

I just really do not understand why we would go after iran considering the last time we demonized a nation for having wmd on CIA intelligence or some stupid report we found none.

many dead troops later it is still a mess there and we sunk a lot of money there.

Now we are being fear mongered into the same deal with iran and people are retarded enough to eat the same slop over and over again.

I think those in power are correct in using our lives just for their selfish goals. Too many people are too stupid and retarded to be nothing more than canon fodder.

I hope we go to war with iran and when we find that there are no wmd there we will be weakened and china with any of its allies will just knock us out.

We will deserve it for being retarded nit wits with the attention span of a gold fish.

hope you all enjoy having size 4 boots stepping on your necks because that is what our government is working on.

It's all about the LOBBY. The answer to the question in your first sentence is another question - Who is lobbying the US Congress and Presidency for a war with Iran? Clearly, propaganda has begun for it. Find the lobby and you will find that answer.

I wouldn't say getting rid of Mullahs is a bad thing, as long we do it for good reasons. Iraq was done for oil and revenge reasons sadly. Civilians suffer alot in wars thats way i am against wars that are conducted for profiteering only. I'm not sure how the Iranians feel about their the government, the majority. If war comes and the Iranian army runs away maybe in the end the war will be welcomed. Watch how the Iranian army fights back against foreign aggression, if it takes place. A government with very little public support its army will also not turn up to fight.

You obviously know squat about what the United States and its allies are capable of. Could you elaborate just how China would "take us out"?

Obviously your joking now..not that i am defending or opposing your question...but you are joking right ? Does the term "mad" ring a bell at this point ?

Actually no. Would you like to answer this question and add to the discussion?

Yes, it would seem that she was moving at a much greater clip than the informed 30 knots claim.

The only variable, given the arrival time and the departure time are accurate, the question would then become - 'was she actually at the location that she was said to depart from?'

If she was at the location, then confirming an average speed, with the top-end limit of 30 knots, would be a hard problem to solve and an even harder sell, when claiming the top-end is actually only 30+/- knots

How should i begin... Lets see now, what level of intrusion do you believe the " opposing " force has within the u.s. infrastructure. That would be my first question, before i am able to continue.

10 years of technology since a flawed war game?
What protects the fleet now orbits the Earth.
They have no idea how to deal with that.

Everyone in this thread is aware that the US Navy has transversed the strait of Hormuz before right?

Matter of fact, some pretty significant naval events have happened there, no I'm not talking about exercises. Many nationalities have sent ships through these waters, not just the US.

Looks like OP's idea of the US Navy being destroyed is on hold, for now.

Happy New Year!

“Discourse about closing the Strait of Hormuz belongs to five years ago. Today’s debate in the Islamic Republic of Iran contains new layers and the time has not come to raise it,” Gen. Masoud Jazayeri said in comments posted Saturday on the Guard’s website, sepahnews.com.

Iranian commander backs away from threat to close Strait of Hormuz, strategic oil route

Then again,These Generals talk a good talk, and are allowed to talk. No structural control in the hierarchy of the Iranians Military leadership, makes me think they have NO clue on what the hell they are doing .

It would seem to me that only an idiot would take a carrier task force anywhere near the Strait of Hormuz. By staging in the open seas at the mouth of the gulf of Oman, a carrier group would be in a position to support both air as well as naval operations to keep the strait open while maintaining a strong defensive position.

The problem really isn’t Iran sinking our carrier group or even a few cruisers, on escort duty. The real problem is Iran blocking the strait. The way I would try and do that would be to sink a few supertankers with my naval forces that were built with just such a mission in mind. Iran’s chances of blocking the strait are better than average, and would have a profound effect on world oil prices.

China and Russia will make lots of noise over this and posture and gain concessions, but in the end will not stand with Iran against the U. S. quite simple because they would really prefer Iran not become a nuclear power.

Finally the odds of the U.S. attacking Iran, destroying vital infrastructure needed to support a nuclear program and setting their program back by as much as 7 years, as well as destroying Iran’s conventional forces, and its ability to project military power, without the rest of the middle east erupting is better than average. However, if we sit on our ass and force the Israelis to do it, then we will see the entire region engulfed in war and it will suck the major powers into it. When that happens, all bets are off.

Hey, Craftsman. Since when is war "fair and square"?

Willing to bet on that? The US could stand off and bury Iran in cruise missiles without help from the Navy.

Think about that for a second.

Well, what can you convince someone that thinks a carrier group can be destroyed by speedboats?
