Does it seem odd that just seven months ago Kerry and Edwards didn't think each other were fit for President, let alone Vice-President.

Kerry went for the jugular against Edwards, questioning the North Carolina senator's credentials and electabilitiy.

"This is not the time for on-the-job training," Kerry told South Carolina reporters Monday via satellite from Albuquerque, NE.

Edwards, who has promised to run a positive capmaign, criticized Kerry's acceptance of contributions from lobbyists and his free-trade policies.

"I don't take contributions from lobbyists, and he obviously does," Edwards told reporters after a speech ath the College of Charleston. "If we want real change in Washington, we need someone who hasn't been there for 15-20 years."

Between satellite interviews, Kerry spoke to an aide about polls showing Bush winning Edwards' home state. "Edwards says he's the only one who can win states in the South. He can't even win his own states," Kerry said.

Edwards criticized Kerry for promising too much new government spending to be able to fulfill his promise to cut the deficit in half.

"It's the same old thing," Edwards said. "He would drive us deeper and deeper into deficit. ...This is the same old Washington talk that people have been listening to for decades. They want something different."

I realize in the heat of battle you say things to get the nomination, but does this sound like two candidates who think each other belong in the two highest offices of the US?

No. I'm sure during the '96 election all of the Republican candidates were ripping on each other during the primaries. It just goes to show that politicians don't really care about how to solve the issues, they just want to tell you who to blame for them.

Yep in 2000 McCain was said to be "crazy" from his POW time and that he had a black baby (he adopted an asian child).

Dirty politics are nothing new but GWB has taken it to a new level. He did the same in Texas when running for governor against Ann Richards.
